- We might have a deeper problem here and it's that nobody knows what education is
- This is happening everywhere in all fields. And it’s being encouraged. At some companies employees are being trained to go to the company AI when they have a question. No one is considering long term ramifications here.
- We’ve treated education as a way to a better life and job rather than what it should be for (becoming a better person who can then learn - obviously some exceptions here). We made education a utility, everyone jumped on board and didn’t question it, and here we are.
- People have always tried to find ways to game the system because the system is the only way to get ahead.
- In the same way that firefighters want to fight the locked front door that’s keeping them from fighting the fire more than they want to fight the fire.

View full threadIt’d be the equivalent of a US battalion failing so bad that they’re decimated, losing 10%. That’s anywhere from 30-100 soldiers just executed arbitrarily. So yeah, the etymology nerds should maybe sit down and think it through.
- And it’s not just arbitrarily executed. “Hey, you guys know Johnson, the dude who has saved our asses and is kind of a bad ass? Yeah, he drew the short straw so we have to beat him to death.” Meanwhile, etymology nerds going on “well it’s only 1 out of 10 of us.”
