- Bloody hell, we now have a DEPUTY MINISTER of Communications and Public Engagement in Alberta. How Orwellian is that? Item 2. #abpoli
- Premier Smith's "benefit of the doubt" seems to have lasted about the 5 minutes it wd have taken to review Ms Dabrusin's CV (the incoming Minister of Environment & Climate Change). Smith may seek a re-set in the AB/Ottawa relationship but that requires a good faith commitment on both sides. #abpoli
- Thanks to Joshua Dillabough for this fact-checking of Premier Smith's "Accord" speech; where was the mainstream media? #ableg
- Some impressive fact-checking on Smith’s provincial address last week. #ableg #abpoli lethbridgeherald.com/commentary/l...
- I would not underestimate Jeff Rath, the bellicose cowboy-hatted lawyer in this photo & the apparent author of the proposed "clear question". On the other hand, I would also be mindful of Rath's "hearing page" with the Law Society of Alberta. #ableg www.lawsociety.ab.ca?s=rath
- 13/13 Is Alberta witnessing the birth of a serious independence movement, or political theatre to extract concessions from Ottawa? Jason Markusoff, CBC News, May 12, 2025 www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
- SK proposes what is, in effect, enhanced and expanded compulsory unitization legislation for all manner of mineral developments including lithium brine projects. Sounds like a good idea but it might be better to first clarify ownership issues in relation to brine hosted minerals.
- DJC "the smoke from the ARI poll is sure to distract Albertans from the UCP’s awful recent performance, incl its Corrupt Care Scandal, its negligence leading to the ongoing measles epidemic, its assault on public health care, & its efforts to bring dark money back into election financing." #ableg
- Some thoughts on that shocking 36% of Albertans we’re told by a pollster would like the province to separate from Canada. albertapolitics.ca/2025/05/some...
- This won't come as a surprise to @drewyewchuk.bsky.social but in a generic report issued today, the Information and Privacy Commissioner finds the Government of Alberta non-compliant in processing access to information requests under the FOIP Act. #abpoli
- I used the socratic method as a teacher as a means of modelling reasoning (first year property law). You can't teach reasoning by way of a lecture. And you can reduce the fear/intimidation factor by posting the lead questions in advance (also helps self-learning).
- Personal anecdote. Shortly before the last Quebec referendum we bought our current home confidently expecting that we wd be able to sell our existing home. Wrong. The market collapsed - let the seller bear the risk. This was not just price, there were no buyers.
- Peter Guthrie warns that talk of independence vote could serious damage economy. It happened in Quebec, twice, even though both votes were no. Column. calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu... #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli #yyc #yeg #separation #Referendum
