- Quite. It’s always “someone else”

- People see what they want to see
- I said this the other day to someone I’d met a lot while walking our dogs. She seemed surprised that there were any non-Pakistani grooming gangs. And when I said this to someone who raised it on the doorstop, he was like “Oh but the Asians are more into X (families, implying incest?). Much worse.

- Why would anyone even think to write something like this? Weird.
- I always visualized her big happy face looking out in the number one spot and today is that day. 🇬🇧 Number 1 🇮🇪 Number 1 Of course those are silly little numbers as real stuff is the 80,000 dogs sterilized and the hospital. This moment is for you Tina. I love you ❤️
- Wonderful news. Looking forward to listening to your audiobook.

- I did one of these once. Lands End to John o Groats. Was fun.

- People mostly do their own thing. It’s not usually malice. But it’s rare for people to go out of their lane and find out things about others. Easier just to assume.

- Well I have slept on it. But I can‘t get over it. "Island of Strangers“ is a horrible thing to say. And honestly, as someone who spends her professional life trying to see the British side, constantly agonising whether I am too harsh or judgemental, I am deeply upset today. (I don‘t live in 🇬🇧.)

- Always does. I stood locally for a by-election last year. People blamed me for Lab losing. I was hearing about Gaza from Lab voters on the doorsteps. Then at the GE, Lab lost in Bromley by 300 votes. Again, our fault. Always.

- I hate it when people try to improve jokes, even bad ones. Stop it!

- And we come back to FPTP. The government will never get rid of that, despite their conference voting for PR. They have such a huge majority, they could make people’s lives better. What a waste.

- Those apologists, though. I just can’t.

- Good point. Our (LD) vote collapsed here because people voted against the Tories even though boundary changes meant it was a dead cert Lab win. I wonder what those people think now. Well, I know what some think because I speak to them.

- Here! You going drinking down the Reform Pub? Looks like that Elvis Haaland of Man City drinks there. Bring along a friend…so long as they don’t have a foreign accent. Pints of wine & plenty of clams to eat, not to mention the gammon and chips. All served in imperial measures! Gertcha! 🇬🇧

- Is what I thought. I challenge if I can but also don’t like to punch down, you know?

- I heard “coloured” last year, far too close to home. And I’ve heard this sentence on doorsteps as well.
- Newsflash : they are probably not friends
- Who said this?
- He said what he said. You can’t unsay things.

- It was for me. It’s when I stopped voting Labour.
- I have emailed my MP to express my disgust at the Starmer immigration speech. I’ve asked him whether he thinks the same thing. Off now to dream about doing incalculable damage.

- Well, there you go.

- I sat next to Zack on a hustings panel last year. Though he did ask me to join the Greens - I’m sure he says that to everyone - not once did I think that he was hypnotising my boobs.

- You in Beckenham Town & Copers?
- My mum did incalculable damage as a midwife, staff nurse and then geriatric nurse for 30 years in the NHS. The damage my dad did by being part of a British award-winning exporting team was also incalculable. The damage I’ve done throughout my life here must simply be beyond estimate.

- Yes. Agreed

- I want to say something but, despite being a candidate, I’m really not into yah-boo politics. There is a lot but this has crossed a line.
- To be fair to him, he’s been nothing but polite and friendly to me whenever we’ve met, which is more than I can say for some of the people surrounding him.

- Very much this. There are supporters; there are tribal people and there are apologists.
