- as someone who *has* done a massive, life-upending move to get out of a red state you cannot imagine the scope of what i have lost decades of collection sold for moving expenses friends i may never see in person again a niece due to 2 months i won't meet if that's your go-to answer, go to hell
- my wife lost everything she owned except for what she managed to fit into the few checked bags / carry-ons she could reasonably bring on the plane without it looking like she was moving she lost her community. her siblings, best friends, dojo, etc. they didnt get to come to Canada with her
- it is unsafe for my wife to try to return to the US and because we live close to multiple border crossing points we're making sure to stay the hell away from them there's beaches here where it's possible to unintentionally / absentmindedly walk across the Canada-US border so yeah
- squirrel update: yesterday i heard scrabbling sounds and went to the balcony and saw this Bonkers Adolescent Squirrel climbing on the door frame / scratching at the window MULTIPLE TIMES!! weird squirrel buddy won't go away! 😅 we gotta keep the window barely cracked and patrol the balcony now 😅
