- Phillies win G1 2-1 over Cards behind Luzardo w/ brilliant relief from Kerkering (came in w/ 2nd/3rd, one out), Romano (3K 1-2-3 save). Alvarado not sharp. We need to bring back the kid (Princeton!) to get Alvy back on track. Phils seldom win games like this. Schwarber’s OB streak ended at 47

- Phillies lost to the Cardinals 3-2. Cristopher Sanchez did not have his good command, but held StL to 2 runs in 6 innings, exiting with the score tied. Matt Strahm also had command problems; he gave up go ahead HR in the 7th. Our offense was not good. 1 for 7 w/ RISP, 8 Ks. Should have won it.
- Today, Moonalice played its 54th concert in San Francisco’s Union Square. For context, our first show there was in 2007 and our most recent was in 2019. 54 seems like a lot of shows, except the Allman Brothers played the Beacon more than 200 times and Billy Joel played MSG 150. That’s a lot.
- Phillies beat the Guardians 3-0 behind 7 innings of 3-hit ball by Zack Wheeler and two HRs by Kyle Schwarber, who drove in all three runs. His mom was there and his bat was pink for Mother’s Day. An intense series. Every game was close until at least the 7th. StL is next, w/ 8 straight wins

- Phillies beat the Guardians 7-1 behind an incredible start by Ranger Suarez. Ranger got pounded last week in his first start of the season, making 7 inning 3 hits 0 runs performance as surprising as it was welcome. Harper broke it open in the 8th with a 2R HR, that was followed by a hit parade. 1/2
- The Phils had two hits through 7 innings and trailed Tampa 5-1. They rallied with 3 in the 8th, 1 in the 9th, and 2 in the 10th to win 7-6. The heroes were the players formerly known as Daycare: Bryson Stott and Brandon Marsh. After this sweep, the Phils are 22-15, 1.5 behind the Mets.
- It is so frustrating when corporations and government agencies give Big Tech access to personal data. Sometimes they do it on purpose. Often they do it because they do not understand the harm that will result. This has been going on for a decade. Have we lost the ability to learn? Seems that way.
- Phillies beat Tampa 7-0 on a combined 2-hitter by Cristopher Sanchez and Taijuan Walker. Little ball provided 6 of the 7 runs, but the story was pitching. Cristopher was fantastic, as usual. Walker, who may have been the worst pitcher in MLB in 2024, had 7 Ks in 3 IP for his first career save. Wow!

- Today is the 18th anniversary of Moonalice's first show! Our lineup was Barry Sless, Pete Sears (on keys), Jack Casady on bass, GE Smith, Jim Sanchez on drums, Ann McNamee on vocals and me. The setlist was a bunch of songs we no longer play. Check it out: www.moonalice.com/tour/2007-05...
- RIP, Ruth Buzzi. You were a star on Laugh In, and a breath of fresh air on the bird site. Thank you for a lifetime of laughs! May the four winds blow you safely home …
- Phillies got down 7-1 early in Ranger Suarez’s season debut, but battled back to tie it 8-8 in the 9th. Unfortunately, they ran out of pitchers and lost 11-9 in 10 innings. The comeback was super impressive, but the Phillies can’t seem to win Sunday day games. Oh, well. Day off tomorrow.

- This was a great moment. TMac took a bite of a s’mores quesadilla and disappeared for the rest of the half inning. I have no idea what happened, but my imagination runs wild. The cameras focused on the game, while Krukie handled play by play in own delightful style.
- Phillies beat DBacks 7-2 in a game where the starters came in with nearly mirror image records. The Phils put up six earned on Brandon Pfaadt, who had a 5-1 record. The Phils’ Aaron Nola was 0-5 coming in — with no run support — and had a sore neck. Nola went 6 with no runs. Great game.

- I am so happy for Kody Clemens. He was a great Phillie, but they had no position for him this season and traded him to him to the Twins. He had a double in his first game, then today he hit a HR in Fenway with his father in attendance. Kody is a great person and deserves big success.
- The Phillies won a nail biter tonight, 3-2 over the DBacks. A terrible play by the backup CF gave AZ a 2-1 lead, but HRs by Schwarber and Kepler (off a LHP) took back the lead. Bullpen was flawless, but Rojas saved the game with a magnificent catch, crashing into the wall in deepest CF. (1 of 2)

- The Phillies won a game today in which three relief pitchers who have been brutal all season retired all 12 batters they faced, pitching like Mariano Rivera. After last night’s 9th inning blowup, the calm of today’s game certainly caught me (and every Phils fan) by surprise. @2008philz.bsky.social

- I moved to Philly in the summer of 1980. The Phillies were in third place, but they had the best mascot I have ever seen, so I jumped on the fan wagon. The Phillies came out of nowhere to win the World Series and I have been a fan ever since. The video below is classic. The Phanatic beans his mom.
