- Good lord, The World at One just ran with the conviction as the lead story, followed by a 5 min in depth piece where it was likened to murder! Meanwhile in other legal news the BBC haven't found time to report the CPS are trying to resurrect blasphemy laws 👍 www.secularism.org.uk/news/2025/05...

- Yep them & conifers are bad for it up here, the barrow in that photo was chalk grassland in the 1930's (IOW not here) they're beech trees which are shallow rooted & notorious for wind throw. It's part of a lovely group of 4 barrows that are amazing but won't last much longer after lasting 3000 years
- I was pretty surprise they'd let a tree grow its roots into Hadrian's wall. I routinely despair over self seeded plantation trees growing in bronze age barrows, hillfort embankments etc

- My great uncle fought the Japanese with the Chindits in Burma, he'd now be diagnosed with PTSD, but as it was he came home & was withdrawn & timid for the rest of his life, never talked about it, drank lots of gin He was a good guy, we have his stiletto knife & silk scarf with a map of Burma on it

- Kneecap will be happy that their namesake is still being practiced in Gaza. They and their mate Jez seem a little confused, as they pose in cannabis cafes, when the IRA famously kneecapped catholic dope dealers in "their" community. But at the same time police shooting drug dealers is bad 🧐

- And it was some of the most horrendous fighting of the war. The battle of Okinawa finished in June 45. 12.5k US soldiers died in that battle, along with 94k Japanese soldiers, plus mass civilian casualties including suicides on top of that...

- I'd forgotten half way the line is "He has his future in a British steel"! At a tangent but another great song about locking up kids (& possibly the talkerati's preferred option for Nige) Listen to the end for "it doesn't matter I'll probably get hit by a car anyway" www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoF_...
- There where multiple versions of this song with other end lines of different ways to go. which has always tickled me.

View full threadIt's the appeal to campism or "allyship" as they like to call it that's hilarious. I bet she'd reject any accusation that she's on the same side as the Houthis or Jihadis in Tehran because they both support Palestinianism.
- My simpler version: the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei supported free healthcare for pregnant women, and were keen on national parks. I believe in both of them too, and I own a Hugo Boss suit, do they think I'm Adolf? TBH JKR said it better in reply to James O'brien's rant yesterday

View full threadHe's already moving into reality denial, 3 days ago he was accusing the NHS of covering up suicide statistics. So in his mind absence of evidence is a cover up. Sad truth is GAC has no hard data for suicide reduction (as opposed to to CBT or DBT, which he's against)
- p.s. It's actually misinformation, there's a UK Gov report on this from 2024 "Summary of conclusions: 1. The data do not support the claim that there has been a large rise in suicide in young gender dysphoria patients at the Tavistock." www.gov.uk/government/p...

View full threadThere's a guy with a hammer-sick pic calling folk n4zis in the Graun threads🤯 I'm very tempted to ask them how they square the actual N4zis sterilizing homosexuals & what we now call "learning disabled", with that cohorts way over the mean representation at GAC clinics, who are cued up for gelding
