- OK it’s a UN office and it is called the Cuba Room, but still a surprise to a big photo of old Fidel up on the wall
- A party with 400+ MPs has just surrendered to a party with five. Starmer might as well have stuck a “Vote Farage” in the window of Downing Street.
- First time I’ve seen one of these on a car in the UK 👍

- An incredibly middle class London problem but does anyone else have parakeets plucking all the blossoms off fruit trees? I suspect it is what is causing my plums to shrivel (🫣)

- I’m screening job applications this week and over 60% have near-identical ChatGPT-written cover letters. I get why people do it but it does mean anyone who writes something original immediately stands out.

- Was chatting this week to some friends who work for the US government. One guy’s partner was fired on Monday for no reason. Another had time at home to look after his disabled wife cancelled and will have to quit. It’s the performative cruelty that is so stomach churning.

- Fewer people go through Heathrow than go through Charing Cross station, and most of them are either going on holiday somewhere else or changing planes. The idea that increasing airport capacity will any meaningful impact on growth is nonsense.
- This is such a wasted opportunity. It must have been predictable that people wouldn’t want to hang out in a gloomy, polluted concrete mess that is cut off from the rest of the high street by six lanes of traffic.
