- If as a politician you are complaining about Pride banning political parties I would strongly suggest you look within yourselves as to why this decision has had to be made, the rampant, and unrepentant, attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community for starters, before criticising those who have made it.
- Starmer, Cooper et al are going to further wreck the country with this latest round of anti-immigration policies. I wonder how it will play with the mythological "public opinion" they claim to follow once that happens and infrastructure like the NHS is made even worse? news.sky.com/story/govern...
- Can you not make out this is some philanthropic gesture in the headline BBC? There's already a serious question mark over exactly how much profit some of these companies are making off of people seeking asylum, but we know it is millions. They're forced to hand some back. www.bbc.com/news/article...
- I am sure people will understand, but watching Labour ignore the lived experiences and lives of myself and my friends on, currently, at least three different levels, migrants, trans and non-binary individuals and disabled individuals, does make me less inclined to be moderate in my opinion of them.
- When the "phrasing" includes lines from Enoch Powell, allusions to great replacement theory, and generally dehumanising, and absolutely far right, language then you can't just move past them. Words do matter, and these were deliberate from Starmer. #r4today
- At this level of politics there is no way someone didn't know Starmer's "island of strangers" line would be heard loud and clear as a dog whistle by far-right groups in the vein of Powell's "found themselves made strangers in their own country". Just stop with the defences of it. It was deliberate.
- People have genuine, serious, concerns which need to be recognised and addressed. The problem is they keep being told that these concerns are caused by immigration, and when you are struggling you will take what you can as a reason. This isn't to say people are stupid or racist, just struggling. 1/
- And here it is. Right from the Foreward onwards Labour's White Paper in Immigration is a really hideous, and false, commentary on immigration. This is unhinged anti-immigration rhetoric and policies. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6821ae...
- My quick take on Labour's anti-immigration policies, and the inevitable harm which they will cause. Starmer is mirroring Reform, but can never go far enough to appease them. #r4today
- "You'll never hear me denigrate migrants" says Starmer having just spent five minutes denigrating migrants and talking about human beings as if they are car parts #r4today
