Dr Lori-Ann Foley
PhD from Open University School of Planetary Sciences researching Mars's climate, focusing on Lyot Crater, after my Physics BSc. Previously did 3 degrees in Roman archaeology, one in languages and a law degree. Multinational upbringing. 🇯🇪🇨🇦
- The second paper from my PhD research went live today! Want to know more about modelling mesoscale meteorology on Mars to see what it can tell us about the formation of fluvial features? Here’s the place: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
- I wore my @heardislandgov.bsky.social flippers-up t-shirt to see I would be allowed in to the Amsterdam branch meeting of Artis penguins. The committee went into a huddle while they debated yes or no. 🐧😀
- I really enjoyed this book. So interesting. 👍😀
- @gov.je We have lots of roof space for solar panels and the greatest amount of sun in the British Isles. It should be easy for Jersey to be country number 8, shouldn’t it.😀
- Seven countries now generate 100% of their electricity from renewable energy: buff.ly/BsB17aj It can be done. No time to wait. #ActOnClimate #climate #energy #renewables
- No coverage from #bbcnews (aka Fox News UK) but if they did report on the marches they would round down the figures to ‘a few people here and there’. 🙄🤬
- Some local ladies enjoying the sunshine and beautiful Jersey countryside. 😎
- Super news! 🥳
- I’ve sent similar messages and, having a legal background, I have found it useful to ask for the message to also be sent to their legal team, noting that their policy is ‘knowingly and intentionally putting disabled customers at risk of harm or death’ and mentioning corporate manslaughter.
- Lovely to see @cloudappsoc.bsky.social here on Bluesky. Just the people to help identify the 😳 cloud I saw. It looks like an ormer to me. 😀
- Just when I thought the BBC could plunge no lower! Just appalling.
- #bbcnews covered this overnight UK time but once again greatly underplayed the numbers. They have grown a couple of vertebrae but not yet a full spine to let them stop appeasing the White House. 😡 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
- Ok, #bbcnews Time for you to start covering this. Can we have a live feed, please? @justingerdes.bsky.social @kaylaepstein.bsky.social
- Watched this amazing looking cloud approach and then pass by our house. Stunning formation.
- We had 9 sunny days in a row here (!) so I imaged the sun every day. This are my first attempts to overlay the images to show the sunspots moving as the sun rotates. I think it is OK as a first attempt but if anyone can point me in the direction of some post-processing tips I would be grateful. 🙏
- Solar farms can host up to three times as many birds as crop fields, study shows theprogressplaybook.com/2025/03/22/s...
- My latest original oil from @jayispainting.earthskyart.ca arrived and is up in my home office, in a key position where I will see it every time I look up from my desk. 🤩 I love my Piece of Neptune. 🥰
- It’s the ‘elevated levels’ that gets me, suggesting there are acceptable levels of fecal matter in US butter. 😳 America, putting the butt into butter!
- Natalie Sherman at #bbcnews posting that the stock market fall is worse for the wealthy in the US as “those in the bottom half of the wealth distribution typically had only about $12,600 tied up in the markets.” But no thought that those people can ill afford to lose ‘only $12,600’. Shameful!
- This is how you go it #bbcnews
- #bbcnews how about reporting the real figures ?
