- One thing that can ruin your day when you live off grid is turning on the faucet and no water comes out. Luckily we have water, but the pump powering the pressure tank is toast. #OffGridLife
- Got it fixed! The brushes were worn out on the motor. 4-hour round-trip to Sun Pumps but they were awesome and got it repaired in a few hours. and we were finally able to take a shower just before guests arrived for the weekend -ha ha!

- Thanks. We did try that many times - came on, made a strange whirring noise, and died. It's supposedly a brand new dc pump, there's an older ac pump we can install, so at least we have a backup.
- Amen.

- how much longer must we endure this buffoonery?
- This is WEIRD. 2 hrs ago, I tossed a years-old Altoid Tin in the recycling. I thought, "Man, that feels good to downsize. But, I'll post how 6 weeks from now, imma gonna need that tin & be regretting letting it go." (the one i've never used) Son of a gun if this person didn't just now follow me.😍
- Incidentally, here was our “Altoids Tin” Zen Garden library program. This was a Programs to Go kit. Fun little kit you can customize with different accessories and colored sand. Another one good for Tweens and Teens. #libraryprogram
- Tell me you went back and dug out that years-old Altoid Tin.

- I somehow managed to set the trail cam to video instead of pics and now I have to slog through all these 20 second videos of doves hanging around the water trough. Have they nothing better to do?? Go home, Dove, you're boring me. (I know, they deserve respect, too - but seriously annoying birds)
- Wow. The talent here...simply amazing!

- wow. Incredible. All of them. ❤️
- It's not the number of slides, it's what you have to talk about that matters. You can put a dozen bullet points on a slide and talk for 15 minutes about them or you can break them up into multiple graphically visual slides and talk for 15 minutes across those slides. Visuals over bulleted text.

- Haha.. I have done this! But it seemed I could never get every iteration of misspellings — there's always at least a handful of them that have to be manually fixed.

- well... I wouldn't be so sure about that. but then again I suppose going through and interpreting PLSS ownership descriptions may be like unraveling little mini-mysteries as you draw (digitize?) the lines. #GISChat
- #EarthMonth Day 30: As the sun sets on this month of many wonders, I’m reminded how precious this planet is. The Earth doesn’t need us to save it—it just needs us to care. Here's to noticing more, protecting more, and loving this wild world every day. #OneEarthManyWonders
- I'm giving a little workshop for @womeningis.bsky.social - come learn some dataviz tips!
- Join us on May 27 for a 2-hour workshop on Data Visualization Essentials. You'll learn from the DataViz Wiz herself — @justjami.bsky.social! She'll show you how to turn your data into effective, accessible visualizations. Full details on our website: womeningis.org/dataviz

- #EarthMonth Day 29: Gambel's Quail prefer running over flying, and their signature low-scurrying dash is both comical and endearing. And there’s nothing quite like a topknot parade across the yard bringing a little joy, motion, and charismatic chaos to a spring day. #OneEarthManyWonders

- #EarthMonth Day 28: Peccary, not pig. These javelina may look scruffy, but they’re clever, loyal, and endlessly entertaining. They travel in squadrons, smell like their family, and snort with joy. Not pigs. Not pets. Just perfect Southwestern weirdos. #OneEarthManyWonders

- oh yes - javelina are regulars here. This is one of them walking past the window after getting a drink out of the bird bath yesterday. We have bobcats, too! don't see them as often, but occasionally they stop by for a drink and to hunt squirrels.
- #EarthMonth Day 27: Resilience. This young cottonwood tree was torn up by elk — bark stripped, branches battered — yet somehow, it’s still standing. Still blooming. In the harsh landscapes of the Southwest, survival takes grit. Even scarred and scrappy, life pushes on. #OneEarthManyWonders
- #EarthMonth Day 26: In the arid Southwest, water is life. We explored the San Francisco River near Martinez Ranch, where ranchers learned early that success depends on working with the land, not against it. Humans have the power to nurture—or to destroy. Choose wisely. #OneEarthManyWonders
- #EarthMonth Day 25: Not every bird needs to be rare to be remarkable. Today’s visitor, a Lark Sparrow, reminded me that sometimes it’s the simple things, like a little brown bird hopping by, that lift our spirits the most. #OneEarthManyWonders
- Only 6 days left for #EarthMonth spotlights from my little corner of the planet. Hoping to spot, get a good photo of, and highlight one of my fav birds and one of my fav reptiles here. But have yet to see them come out of hiding. May have to go with an old photo, but 🤞they show up soon!
- #EarthMonth Day 24: Went out herping, found an alligator. In New Mexico?! Yep—an alligator juniper! With bark that mimics gator skin, these tough trees thrive on rocky slopes, feed wildlife, and store carbon. It may not hiss or snap, but it's one of the coolest trees around. #OneEarthManyWonders
- And here's a close up crop showing off that amazing textured bark!

- #EarthMonth Day 23: This harvester ant doesn’t need GPS—just pheromones, grit, and her all-female team. Together they dig, forage, and shape the desert, one seed at a time. Their world is built on cooperation, purpose, and persistence. #OneEarthManyWonders
- Fun harvester ant fact: every worker you see is female. Harvester ant colonies run on an all-female workforce. Sisters forage, dig, guard, and raise young — each performing her role in seamless coordination with the colony. #EarthMonth #OneEarthManyWonders

- #EarthMonth Day 22: This is Earth. Precious. Wild. Wondrous. On this #EarthDay, get outside. Feel the wind, hear the birds, notice the ants and the trees. Earth is not ours alone. We are all part of the web of life—fragile, shared, and worth protecting. #OneEarthManyWonders
