- Chair Comer denied our request for an official trip to El Salvador to advocate for due process and the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Pretty shameful. Good thing I don’t need Comer’s permission to get on a plane.

- Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

- Two Republican senators told me tonight this vote shows they can execute the same strategy again — cut Democrats out of the negotiations on a gov’t funding bill, pass it thru the House, and expect Senate Dems to back down and not filibuster it. “We liked it over here,” one said.

- We just walked out of the state of the Union. My shirt showed Trump an important message: NO KINGS LIVE HERE. In the spirit of student protestors from the Civil Rights Movement, I’m proud to have protested and walked out with many of my colleagues. This is NOT a normal time.

- The idea that a political party must do more dramatic things in response to defeat is not new to the social media age. New bio of John Lewis describes his approach to Newt Gingrich et al taking the House in 1994. Lewis applied Civil Rights era lessons and a willingness to burst norms to hurt Newt.
