Steven T. Dennis
I cover the U.S. Senate for Bloomberg News. You may know me from #FridayNightZillow, but C-SPAN is more my natural habitat. #Introduction
I'm also @steventdennis on the other places. Opinions mine.
- Things most Senate Rs don't want to talk about: Trump's: * new Air Force One from Qatar * memecoin dinner (foreign bidders) * stablecoin profits (UAE company) * family billion-dollar overseas deals * trade wars * drug price EO They want to talk about: Border Tax cuts Dereg Crypto bill Women's sports
- USA 30-year interest rates keep going up, and are approaching 5%. The 10-year is near 4.5%. US owes >$36 trillion and budget projections on autopilot are ~$2T more in debt a year. Higher interest rates are sort of like a ratchet. The higher they go, the worse the deficit. Etc.
- Two dolls Five pencils Tariff break for Bentleys A memecoin contest for dinner w/Trump & White House tour A $2 billion stablecoin purchase A free 747 for Trump's presidential 'library' (libraries do not need 747s) from Qatar A lot of news the last few weeks
- Happy Mother’s Day
- How do you make sure a jet provided by a foreign government is filled with hidden bugs?
- These numbers are arguably small fry compared to getting a new Air Force One / future ‘Trump Library’ Jumbo Jet paid for by Qatar.
- Must-read new Bloomberg analysis: Most of the top holders of Trump’s memecoin - who are vying for an “intimate dinner” with POTUS and a White House tour - are likely foreign. www.bloomberg.com/graphics/202...
- There are very few examples this year of four Senate Republicans defecting from Trump on anything. The one below had no actual effect. Thom Tillis saying no to Ed Martin as U.S. Attorney for DC did.
- Warren wants Democrats to refuse to back the stablecoin bill Thursday unless it shuts down "this particular vector of corruption that the president has invented."
