1. The tort is "defamation" slander is just a form of it.
2. Maybe true in some states but definitely not all so your jurisdiction will matter.
3. The "actual malice" standard has nothing to do per se. Per se is about a need to show actual damages. "Actual malice" is about public figures
Maybe Kathyrn can tell all these lawyers that making false claims about someone's business (or how you think they were thrown out of the legal profession) is also slander per se and doesn't need to show malice.
