- The “elephant in the room” with housing affordability that people know but don’t talk about —ownership affordability is only improved if housing prices go down substantially. But that would have huge implications to the financial situation of a LOT of current home owners. No-win for any politician.

- What you are describing is a rare situation that might have been more common decades ago in old mining or logging towns.
- So, cities should abolish single-family zoning, legalize single-stair buildings that make small apartments functional, and then subsidize the hell out of apartment construction, possible to the point of leasing the land from the homeowners and handling all construction at a city level to do so.

- A woman took 5 hockey players to trial for alleged sexual assaults. She was subjected to 9 straight days of interrogation by 5 legal teams, one for each defendant. Our justice system is telling women they can't report multiple assaults or they will be victimized again. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

View full threadI meant housing. It has been so difficult to get anything built the last 20 years. I wonder what influence the internet has had on it... It is just too easy to organise pushback.
