It’s a bad analogy in the sense that your argument is even dumber. For starters, you cannot direct electrify using most types of renewable energy. You must use a battery based energy storage system in the middle. There are many good reasons to think a hydrogen system is cheaper.
[Not loaded yet]
By that logic, solar power could never compete against wind or hydropower. After all, it was "less efficient" than other ideas.
But that was still total nonsense.
[Not loaded yet]
Nonsense. A repeat of the same fossil fuel propaganda used against wind or solar. Hydrogen will be cheap enough for all major use cases.
[Not loaded yet]
[Not loaded yet]
Clearly not. Those industries require *cheap* hydrogen to be feasible. Ultimately, strong opposition to green hydrogen is just enabling more fossil fuels.
[Not loaded yet]
Hydrogen will be used for all things. It is just like how no one put a limit on where wind or solar could be used. And those that suggested that there should’ve been limits were really just fossil fuel stooges.

New 'Super Steel' pulls green hydrogen directly out of seawater
A new kind of stainless steel could transform how the world produces green hydrogen, making clean energy cheaper and more sustainable.

When you make enough hydrogen for all of the necessary reasons, you’ll end up having widely available and cheap hydrogen for transportation.
Actually, it would make more sense to do it the other way around: Mandate hydrogen cars to drive industrial adoption.

That's just material science. It's not something we can just wish away. Hydrogen is difficult to deal with safely. It's not that those obstacles can't be overcome. It's just that it's not accurate to say you can simply just use the existing gas grid to deliver hydrogen. It's far more complex.
You have it backwards. Material science simply tells us they are not problems. Or at least stuff that was solved decades ago. It is the critics who are trying to wish away hydrogen.
Like I said, it is as straightforward to deal with as natural gas.
[Not loaded yet]
No one in the industry actually says those things. It's people with an agenda, especially people who don't believe in climate change, that tell such stories.
[Not loaded yet]
Pipelines and tanks are very straightforward to build. Economics of hydrogen distribution will be broadly the same as natural gas.
[Not loaded yet]
People said similar things about renewable energy. But in the end, it became extremely cheap. Hydrogen is the same. It could be exceedingly cheap.
[Not loaded yet]
Because deep down they know it is an existential threat to the BEV.
Naysayers are disguised climate change deniers. It is the same story that happened with wind and solar in the past.

Then you have fallen for propaganda. In reality, countries like Netherlands are rapidly adopting hydrogen. Naysayers are repeating the arguments used against wind and solar.
[Not loaded yet]
There are very little losses in those area too. Anti-hydrogen critics are just making up stories about potential losses that don't really exist. At worst, you are only somewhat worse than doing it with electricity. But it hardly matters since the source energy was basically free energy.
[Not loaded yet]
That's simply extension of the argument used against wind and solar originally. That intermittent power sources can never be profitable or usable.
But it was a BS argument then, and it is still one now.
[Not loaded yet]
This is getting into battery/electrification propaganda.
For the first one, it is comparing direct heating to a heat pump. You would develop thermal heat pumps to compare to electric heat pumps.
For #2, a fuel cell car is also an EV. There is not much difference in efficiency compared to a BEV.
[Not loaded yet]
But we do have an abundance of green electricity. Prices regularly plunge to zero. And we have no way of storing that free electricity for long periods of time.
[Not loaded yet]
Li-ion batteries emit hydrogen when they undergo thermal runaway.

The whole point is that hydrogen allows you to store energy for long periods of time.
[Not loaded yet]
A guilty by association argument. If it is green, it doesn’t matter how it works.

That is mostly propaganda. A combination of fossil fuel and battery industry marketing. Hydrogen will drastically reduce the need for both of them, so they make up stories about why hydrogen impossible. A repeat of anti-wind and anti-solar rhetoric of the past.
