- #ProudBlue Habeas corpus is a Latin phrase meaning “you should have the body,” meaning you can't be thrown in jail or deported w/o a judicial finding. It's been a bedrock of English law since the middle ages, & is central in US law. Trump's attempt to toss it out is unthinkable, & must be stopped.
- Here I thought Trump was trying to be like Charles I and his Divine Right of Kings. Now I see they want to go all the way back to King John (undoing habeas corpus, which stems from the Magna Carta in 1215).
