I write and I co-founded TransWrites.world / @TransWrites.world with Lee Hurley to platform trans voices around the world. I'd say we're not doing so bad at it so far.
- I think the thing that stands out to me the most about the Cass review is not just that it is deeply flawed and a document to be ashamed of but also that it was bad even for its intended purpose. Its findings did not justify many of its recommendations or the further actions of our govt.
- "every trans person is a problem for a sane society" is true but only specifically if you define a "sane society" via a strictly regimented binary ideology of sex and gender that does not map to reality in any meaningful sense. equally; gnc, intersex & other cultures would also be a problem.
- This is Foran with Helen Joyce, who is infamous for declaring that "GCs" must get through to "decision makers" in order to "reduce" the "numbers" of trans people. You are platforming someone who is deeply involved in one of the key movements of contemprary fascism, @ukcla.bsky.social.
- part of the reason the Goodwin succeeded at the EctHR leading to the GRA is because the government was outing trans people via our documentation and it was leading to us being harassed, abused and discriminated against. A third space is *absolutely* against our human rights.
- fwiw this goes for any group; if you are an LGBTQIA+ group repping another org the entire relationship there is that you lend you support to them in exchange for them actively supporting your human rights. If the org has backed out of this agreement; you should too! there is no more agreement!!!
- everytime some science, health or medicine guy/org comes along to critique the cass review it basically just says everything I said in my piece about it for Novara Media the week it came out. think how much time and money could be saved just listening to trans people about this stuff.
- Just out! Our peer-reviewed critique of the Cass Review has been published by BMC Medical Research Methodology. Please read and share. We show that the Cass Review is fatally flawed and should not be the basis for policy or practice in transgender healthcare. link.springer.com/article/10.1...
- Policy Exchange are one of many conservative think tanks who have delivered "reports" on why we should be worse to marginalised people in our societies. No left wing politician would be seen dead giving talks for them. Not one.
- It is important to recognise that absolutely *noone* has forced *anyone's* hand here. Compliance with the worst possible interpretation of this ruling is a choice that is being made well in advance of any real evidence suggesting it has any merit. They do not have to do this. They have chosen to.
- Remember when the US Congress voted for a “trans bathroom ban” on their premises, mostly to bully their solitary trans colleague, and we (the reasonable among us) all thought that outrageous? Obviously progressive Scotland would never do something like — oh. www.heraldscotland.com/news/2514895...
- UK person: that one time the home office were stopped from kidnapping a guy in Glasgow because people crowded the van should be a lesson to USA! champs it was only a few years ago we had a prison barge being decked out to ship people off to Rwanda. We are not "instructive" to the US here, at all.
