- Pssst. The sculpting workshop in teaching in Brooklyn is now online for registration! I’m posting it here before instagram. gasworksnyc.kilnfire.com/classes/work...

- Awesome! Thank you!
- The firing wrapped up beautifully. We’ve got to wait until Friday to unload it. I love these cooling days. Days to laze and reset.
- That said, I have the choice today between moving a truck load of wood up to the kiln or spending the day doing my sales tax and laundry. 😅 Everyone’s rest days are different.

- Go for it, it’s way too fun.
- We definitely made a miscalculation when it came to how long reduction cooling would take for this firing. I offered to stay up an extra hour or two, and sent everyone home. It’s now nearly 4am. I’ve been on shift since 4pm. 😭

- That tiny little dancing flame was such a lovely companion for a long night!
- We’ve finished all 3 body reduction for the firing. A body reduction is where you starve the kiln of oxygen while the clay bodies are still porous - a specific temperature range. It lets you turn red iron oxide into black iron oxide, giving you richer colors. Also. You get ridiculous flames.

- Thank you! 🤞🔥🔥
- Though, dang it gets pretty as you seal it up. Fire wants oxygen, and it’ll find it wherever it can.
- Am I posting to try and keep myself awake, while I await my timer to put the next stick in the kiln. Yes. Yes I am. Here’s another reduction cooling video, after things had calmed some.
- Reduction cooling is carefully keeping the kiln starved of oxygen as it cools. You get all sorts of lovely crystal, and interesting colors in iron rich clay bodies. However, that means carefully putting in one chopstick’s worth of wood every 5 min for 8 hours.

- Yup! At the anagama I often fire at, we downfire. With my train kiln, we’re playing with reduction cool. (Heavier redux, for much longer)
- I need to put a beast next to every cone port. This makes checking the cones a treat every time.
- Wood firing is going great! We’re at hour 18, 1317f in the back of the kiln, 1908f in the front.
- I made a beast with some birds, all ready for the kiln.

- lol. Honestly, that’s not the first time that’s happened.

- They’re too hip for all of us!
- I recommended Blue Prince to a friend, who loves puzzle adventure games, but doesn’t get as much game time nowadays due to a toddler daughter. He worked around this by convincing her it’s about exploring a doll house. Apparently, she’s now been demanding they play the “House Game” every night!

- I was so impressed.
- We load the wood kiln tomorrow! Today and yesterday is my attempt to reset after the sculpting crunch and prepare for the firing. That said, I instead drove all day yesterday to pick up a cord of spruce for future firings. That was also nice.
- Reposted, now with fewer typos!
- Man, Blue Prince has its claws in me. This game is exactly my jam. I’m having trouble putting it down, and definitely dreamed in it last night.

- Happy belated birthday! That sounds pretty perfect.

- TFW you can give *all* your friends a ride!

- Same! The body clay’s been going metallic recently in my train kiln. I’m very excited to see how this beast does.

- Dude, that was me at my own birthday party this weekend! (I did enjoy my time with my friends, but I’d be lying if I said that house wasn’t also on my mind)

- He’s got a good squad.

- Yeah! The rate that I’ve been finding/ understanding new questions has been outpacing the rate of solving older questions to an absurd degree. It’s perfect.

- It’s like Myst and Gone Home had a rogue-like baby.

- Amazing. I’m so glad that Wyrm gave Ichabod a task.
- Which on is which?
- I just packed up some tiny beasts just for this!
- Coming 4/29: Tea4T, an art fundraiser for trans rights! tea4t.bigcartel.com
- Tomorrow! I’ll have four beasts for sale and five tiny little delicate skulls!
- Psssst. I’m gonna do a shop launch next Friday the 11th, at 10am pacific! This will be my first normal shop launch in ages! I’ll only have a few beasts, but I’m excited for it. evafunderburgh.com

- The deal is I don’t add any glaze at all! It’s all just melted wood ash from the wood firing process. I’m at the point where I can load pieces in certain ways, and ask the flame to do things, hoping for various results. But you never know exactly what you’ll get from a wood kiln.

- That’s often how it goes, and I feel so sad every time that happens!! Thank you for trying, at least!

- That one was probably my favorite of the skulls!

- Terri! Thaaank you!! (Does little dance)

- Thank you so much!
- I am!! The beasts have been moving pretty fast, but the little slip cast skulls might be a bit slower to go. It would be a total honor to have you get one!

- I love her work!!
- I’m making new tiny beasts. And even better, I’ll be making *special* tiny beasts to raise money for trans rights!!

- We’re still getting used the the train kiln, and dropped 13 by mistake last firing. 😅
- The fundraiser didn’t line up with my wood firing schedule - which means it’s time for me to tackle something new and terrifying: firing work to cone 6. You mean instead of working for 50-100 hours stoking wood into a kiln, I’ll have to use electricity and bright colors? GASP!

- Oh man, a local theater is showing it on the day I’m loading my kiln.
