The markets are weirdly resilient because traders are behaving like degenerate gamblers: worried that the next bet will be the one that hits big, and they’ll miss it, rather than the fact that they’re betting their whole house on a longshot that’s looking worse by the day.

- Incredible that people think this is an either/or. Yes, Trump is uniquely awful, and we should absolutely criticize him as a matter of policy and political praxis. But he is ALSO a symptom of longstanding patterns of rot in our society and politics, and getting rid him is a start, not an end.
