Minnesota guy.
"This particular activist will not stop." Sen. Chris Murphy
- It’s impossible, inconceivable the the Times would ever write a headline that says “Trump blatantly violates ethical norms with deeply corrupt act” - because it would be seen as partisan - so everything, no matter how bad, gets downgraded to this absurd, plausibly deniable language
- This is the way that media norms have become a significant contributing factor - maybe the MAIN factor - in America's ongoing collapse. Media is afraid to take any position on a political question that risks being seen as conclusively taking a side, which means it maxes out at "raises questions."
- "corruption is only when money and favors are exchanged in this very specific way" is such a bizarre way of understanding corruption. surely we can all acknowledge that money and favors being exchanged in the vicinity of politics is what all normal people regard as corruption
- I definitely didn’t get this guy fired. I have no idea who this guy is. I wouldn’t try to get someone fired over tweets.
- Apparently Stancil has shooters and I was laid off so I’m starting a Patreon at least until I can find another job. Feel free to support if you can. Or don’t. We’ll still be here. www.patreon.com/TheLouvreofB...
- This is such a good point. The markets are weirdly resilient because traders are behaving like degenerate gamblers: worried that the next bet will be the one that hits big, and they’ll miss it, rather than the fact that they’re betting their whole house on a longshot that’s looking worse by the day.
- All the legal arguments about emoluments are so silly. Fundamentally, whether or not the president can accept a portrait of a king or some kind of honorary certificate, it just cannot be the case that any sane nation would let its president take home the world’s most expensive plane as a door prize
- Can anyone explain to me how "Trump donating the brand new Air Force One to his own presidential library right before leaving office, so he can continue to use it" is any different from THE PRESIDENT STEALING AIR FORCE ONE
- “the president toured a half-billion dollar luxury 747 owned by the Qatari government which it then gave to him as a ‘gift’ and then he used it to replace Air Force One with the plan of keeping it after leaving office” is the most insane corruption any president has ever done and should end Trump
- oh my god what on earth
- Reposted by Will Stancili have been told that the American people don’t care about corruption but a terrorist-supporting slave-state gifting the president a 747 while he’s telling the rest of the country to learn to live with less feels like it might break that theory
