- I started karate about two months ago, because Little wanted to start. It was nicer for me to participate than just to sit and wait, and it was better for Little too. Being a beginner is a humbling and rewarding experience. Highly recommend starting something new as an adult.
- I just assme that you all need a goose as much as I do today. Here you go, a late archaic Goose and three goslings. #TinyJoys
- Is it no longer possible to add page numbers to unformatted EndNote citations using @[page number]? Because... if so, thanks I hate it.

- If you have not yet come across the Agora Picture Books from ASCSA, they are delightful. #ClassicsBluesky
- Microsoft. You understand we use Outlook because somehow you have a near-monopoly and my university has decided I must use you.
- I will never get over seeing one of my books in the wild. At the British Museum, no less!
- Reposted by Dr Ellie Mackin RobertsMy ‘I’m not like Enoch Powell’ t-shirt has people asking a lot of questions already answered by my shirt.
- If there was one thing I could click my fingers to change instantly and make a huge difference specifically for young women’s mental health it’s removing the calorie count from menus. As someone who had a long-term chronic eating disorder I really struggle with it.
- On this: I’ve sent my fair share of letters to my MP - on trans rights, on Palestine, on disability benefits. Today is the first time I really just sent a message urging her to stand up for the values she promoted on the campaign trail, because the government we have sure as shit is not doing that.

- Reposted by Dr Ellie Mackin RobertsPSA Autism isn't a choice. If someone's autism causes them to do things that annoy you, it's not because they want to annoy you or don't care that they are. It's because they have a literal disability. And just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it isn't one. Hope that helps.

Normally they keep this kind of horse for themselves but they were such big fans they said sir, please take our big wonderful horse we’ll even bring it to your house”

- I’m an immigrant who has chosen to make the UK my home. I have lived here for 15 years. I don’t feel welcome. I imagine immigrants who are not white, Anglophone, and highly educated feel even less welcome. Shame on this Labour government.
- One year ago today I filmed wind blowing through the reeds in Brauron and had An Idea. That Idea is currently under review and will hopefully see the world soon, because (if I do say so) I think it’s a genuinely excellent paper and something I’m so excited to see in the world.
- I’ve really fallen in a hole with running long. Suddenly I can’t tolerate the fuel I used to have with no issues, and anything with too much carb just makes me feel crap. Ran 15km today and then had to lie down for an hour.
- One rather suspects that Baroness Smith has lost sight of the purpose of universities.

- Last night two women in their early 20s called my 4 year old iconic and it made her year. Offered without comment.

- Right, here’s my number one sewing tip: understitch with your stitch-in-the-ditch foot and your needle offset.

- Has someone told Liz Truss et al that we don’t even have DEI in the UK? We have EDI. Like, it’s a small thing, but actually speaks volumes.
- Sat down to read and look who immediately showed up.
- If you’ve woken up bereft about a lack of chimney to watch, may I introduce you to the Fish Doorbell. Watch the livestream and when you see a fish, ring the doorbell.
- But no Season 2 for KAOS. Make life make sense.
- I mean that’s definitely one way to emigrate to Europe from America in the current political climate.
- Come on then, what are your name wants and predictions? I personally would like another Pope Soter.

- Maybe this is a weird thing to say but I don’t dislike being Autistic and I don’t usually feel disabled by my neurotype - and actually often feel like it’s a net positive for me personally. -/1

- Reposted by Dr Ellie Mackin RobertsSubmitting this for publication shortly, and we're now at 2920 signatures. It would be amazing to get it over three thousand before I turn it in...
- There are now over 2000 UK academic signatories to our open letter in support of trans rights & inclusion, along with hundreds of other UK educators & international supporters. It's heartening to see such support from colleagues for our trans siblings. #NotInOurName docs.google.com/document/d/1...

- Just so you’re all aware today, May 6th, is International No Diet Day. At present there is a really scary recurrence on social media (and specifically TikTok) of ‘skinny culture’ - today and every day is a good time to love your body for what it can do and not what it looks like.
- Reposted by Dr Ellie Mackin RobertsYou do not need to be an academic to visit an archive. You do not need a degree to visit an archive. There is no terrifying Don at the door grilling potential visitors. If it's your first time, a nice archivist will help you. It's our shared history, our preserved records. Go explore it.
- Reposted by Dr Ellie Mackin RobertsEvery time something happens in one of the big Western museums, this is my thought. Just imagine an African museum would have to reveal that a curator stole and sold thousands of objects, like happened at the British Museum. The backlash would be felt for decades.
- In 1989 Pierre Nora wrote that we are becoming a society that archives everything. 'It becomes impossible to predict what should be remembered', he says. I wonder what he would make of social media.
