I don't think I fully appreciated the nature of "Stancil Derangement Syndrome" until I saw this thread of people tripping all over themselves to convince themselves that Star Wars was a brilliant political allegory for Vietnam just because Will said it isn't
yeah everyone keeps telling me “Star Wars is a Vietnam allegory” and it’s insane. Have you seen a star war? Do you know what Vietnam is? Do you know what an allegory is
In interviews in the 70s/80s Lucas himself talks about being influenced by WWII & the Bible(!) but it wasn’t until galaxy brained pundits in the early 00s wrote articles calling it “Vietnam influenced” that he changed his tune.
Stancil is being “dunked on” for saying the sky is blue.
