- In the hills. A good, prolonged view of a pair of Goshawk was half-decent. Always nice to see them after they have ‘gone quiet’. Also 7 Painted Lady and 4 Red Admiral heading NE. #birdingWales
- Another 50km around the levels this AM. Couldn’t get out till post-HT so not much doing at Goldcliff, did get newly hatched broods of Ringed Plover and Redshank, and a decent sized survivor of a Lapwing chick. #gwentbirding #birdingWales #lowcarbonbirding #birdingbybike
- Up in the hills again. The Crossbills are gathering up, max flock size of 40 so far. Also Painted Lady. #birdingWales
- More Gropper action in the hills today, including decent views of a singing male and a pair in suitable nesting habitat. Three singing Whinchat weren’t too shoddy either. #birdingWales
- A 50km circuit of the eastern levels this afternoon with a quickish stop at Magor Marsh. Saw nothing of note. Luckily, didn’t burn any carbon whilst seeing bugger all, so that can go down as a nil-nil draw. #gwentbirding #birdingWales #birdingbybike #lowcarbonbirding
- Petition alert. Coal mining dressed up as ‘coal tip reclamation’. Climate and local biodiversity impacts. Feel free to register your disapproval here >> www.change.org/p/halt-the-p... #Bedwas #Trethomas

- Reposted by DarrylNow the DOGE scumbags are coming for the Bird Banding Laboratory (part of USGS). They just lost two senior staff members and are going to be stretched extremely thin. Without their office, bird research does not happen.
- @ruthjoneslabour.bsky.social Any comment re recent India/US trade deals and declines in food health/safety standards?

- Reposted by DarrylFUN FACT: Since 2019, Nigel Farage's Reform has taken more than £2.3 MILLION from oil and gas interests - making up an astonishing 92% of the party's donations. Reform are NOT for ordinary people. They're in the pockets of the big oil lobby.

- Reposted by DarrylAnother birding paper! 🐦Where do the Nearctic landbirds that show up in Europe each autumn come from? We usually assume they come from NE populations, pushed off course by bad weather - but is that the whole story? #ornithology 1/3 www.nature.com/articles/s41...
