- Well, the garden had its spring peak. Some things are just about bloomed out; some are just firing up. Daylilies, hydrangea, garden phlox, Asiatic lilies, yarrow, campanula and daisies will come in as summer gets here. Zinnia seeds are sprouting; they'll take us all the way to fall.
- Working on a little coil-built bucket form with a...what does a potter call this edge? Deckle edge in paper, live edge in wood. Hmm. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- Taking a lot of pics of my garden lately, but this one...
- Coil-building myself a new oatmeal bowl (after I broke my favorite one by another potter) was certainly an exercise in tedium. 😑😅 Hat's off to all you coil-builders out there. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- Oblong tray for all your...oblong-shaped things. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- Early morning puttering in the garden.
- Dwarf penstemon, with a little snow-in-the-summer and baptisia in the background.
- Baptisia and allium.
- Peony, baptisia, sage, catmint, allium. ❤️
- For your entertainment, related to my last post about my coil pot experiences. Here's the first one I made. I still have it and, remarkably, a picture of me making it, circa about 1978.
- My first coil pots since 6th grade! Not quite what I was going for, but in the general neighborhood. (The second one was supposed to be more pear and less...eggplant.) #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- Throwback Thursday to 2015. I never got to spend much time with this one, it came out of the kiln a day or two before the show, and sold right away. I wish I'd held on to it a little longer! #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- Big vase with little dots (eventually those will have gold luster in them). About 13.5" tall and wide. Handbuilt stoneware with a groggy slip. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- "The first wildflower of the year is like land after sea." - Thomas Wentworth Higginson (I agree. Perennial blue flax at the edge of my garden.)
- I dug a few of these up from my mom's yard and brought them to mine. They'd grown there for decades, long rows of them to pass through on the way to the chicken house to get eggs. (Back before eggs were an excuse to set the world on fire, kids.) Anyway, it's a nice morning in the garden, at least.
- I kinda wish I had a reading chair shaped like this in real life. Handbuilt stoneware with porcelain slip wash. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism #furnituredesign
- Thing One and Thing Two. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- Things move a little slow for me when school is in session, so even though you might have seen me working on these weeks ago, they just finally came out of the glaze kiln. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- Blue flax, always one of the first to bloom for me.
- A trio of handbuilt stoneware boxes. This green is amazing in person. Satin black interior. Vary from about 5" to 10" high. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- A pair of handbuilt stoneware votive lanterns. About 8 in tall. This is an interesting glaze, depending on how the light hits it, it can look charcoal or greenish or almost bronze. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- Throwback Thursday! These are from about ten years ago. A pair of porcelain bud vases, mostly unglazed but with a few patches of color), on an unglazed dark stoneware pedestal. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
- Working on a larger version of a preposterously skinny vase. Little one is fully fired, big one still damp. Will look similar when fired, but with gold luster on the inside of its little opening. #art #sculpture #pottery #ceramics #architecture #design #contemporaryceramics #ceramicart #minimalism
