I knew the French JRPG was going to be French but it’s like two standard deviations more French than I was expecting.
The soundtrack of that game is *unfathomably* French. Like, hear the Lumiere theme and be instantly transported in your mind to a rainy Parisian afternoon, sitting on your balcony with a lit cigarette in one hand and a glass of Bordeaux in the other

There goes his booze money
All true, but playing devil’s advocate, the fact that the setting is basically a blank canvas and the parts which are filled in nobody wants anything to do with does give you a lot of room to do your own space adventure thing with a large degree of freedom and slap a big IP label on it.
sequel trilogy setting is shitty and poorly defined. No plot hooks.
There's a First Order, no one knows what that is or does, but it's plainly less interesting than the Empire
There's a Republic sometimes but it's easily destroyed and poorly defined
There's no Jedi doing anything of note
The thing is I don't think you want a blank canvas, you want a canvas with little hints and ideas scattered about your can reformulate to fit whatever story you have in mind. Otherwise you've basically just got an aesthetic, not a setting
Yeah, based on my experiences with fanfiction, TOO blank of a canvas means it's harder to get sparks of inspiration from the original work
Would Kyle katarn and his game series have existed if it weren't for the massive backdrop novels set during and after the OT? Or republican commando if the idea of the clone wars didn't spawn a bunch of cartoons and novels set in it?
Meanwhile I'm not sure if I've seen much supplemental works for the sequel era--no novels, cartoons, etc
If the pre-disney era is any indication, solid supplemental works seem to inspire more and better supplemental works, etc
People really will get freaked out by the ingredients list on a jug of oat milk and then think they're only eating one chemical when they grill a steak.
Enjoy your heterocyclic amines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons!! Worse than anything in oat milk, but still not that bad.
Broke: not drinking oat milk because the ingredient list looks spooky
Woke: not drinking oat milk because the brand I got wasn't emulsified properly so it always left an oily film on my lips

I'm very curious as to how the fanbase for Star Wars breaks down as a whole. A pair of good friends of mine are highly educated, enjoy Star Wars, and liked Andor...but they're also the sort who respond to fanservice-y key jangling in Star Wars
I.e., famous characters from other Star Wars stories showing up and getting involved in the plot even if it's inappropriate, disrupts the tone of the current story, doesn't make sense, results in poor on-screen chemistry, etc.
MEASUREHEAD — LISTEN, POPE MAN. I CAN SEE YOUR DEGENERATE CHICAGO-BEEF ORIGINS. YOUR SKULL STRUCTURE, IT IS WEAK AND FEMININE.
THIS IS NOT AN INSULT. THIS IS SCIENCE. YOUR PAPAL HAT CANNOT HIDE THE TRUTH FROM MY SUPERIOR VISION.
MAGA's brains are so broken. they speed ran the normal Pope conspiracies, and made the quantum leap to "the Pope is worse than woke, he's trans!" in less than 12 hours.
