- Born 15th May 1938, French actress Mireille Darc. She had a lead role opposite Jean Yanne in Jean-Luc Godard's seminal 1967 film "Weekend". Weekend has been compared to Alice in Wonderland, the James Bond series, and the works of the Marquis de Sade. #MireilleDarc

- 14 May 1976, 33 year-old Keith Relf, former lead singer for The Yardbirds, was electrocuted while tuning a guitar which was not properly earthed. The accident happened in his West London home where he was found by his 8 year old son, still holding the plugged-in electric guitar. #KeithRelf

- Phil Silvers was born 11 May 1911. He achieved major popularity when he starred in The Phil Silvers Show, a 1950s sitcom set on a US Army post in which he played Master Sgt Ernie Bilko. The series was set in Fort Baxter in the fictional town of Roseville. 143 episodes were broadcast. #PhilSilvers

- Born 10 May 1957, punk rock legend Sid Vicious was bassist with the Sex Pistols. He had a tumultuous life and was accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death. He eventually died of a heroin overdose in 1979. His unreleased solo singles were collated and released as a posthumous album. #SidVicious
- Born 10 May 1946 - singer/songwriter Dave Mason (born in Worcester) who with Traffic had the 1967 hit single 'Hole In My Shoe' & the solo 1977 hit single 'We Just Disagree'. - Born 10 May 1952 - rhythm-and-blues singer Lee Brilleaux, who with Dr Feelgood, had the 1979 UK No.9 single 'Milk And Alcohol' and the hits 'She Does It Right', 'Roxette', and 'Back in the Night'. He died of cancer on 7th April 1994. #LeeBrilleaux

- No 1 in the UK singles chart on 9 May 1975, 'Oh Boy' by Mud. It was originally released by The Crickets in 1957 with "Not Fade Away" as the B-side. The song had peaked at No 10 on the US charts, and No 3 on the UK charts in early 1958. #Mud
- 11 May 1974, ABC Records released Steely Dan single "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" from the "Pretzel Logic "album; it peaks at No 4 in the US, making it their biggest hit. Donald Fagen subsequently revealed that the "Rikki" in question was simply a woman he'd had a crush on in college. #SteelyDan
