How is this not banned?! Good luck from Canada!!! Thank you for doing this. 🫶
Well that's a wrap. I was in Ottawa this morning to sign all the official papers ending 21 years as the elected Member of Parliament. It has been a great honour to serve my country in parliament.
But the work carries on.
See you on the road.
Just don’t go too far away ok Charlie? We need your fearless moral compass in public life.
Anonymous - Anyone advocating for Alberta separation from Canada, especially Danielle Smith and Alberta legislature, should pack their bags and renounce their citizenship. They can leave but the land will stay.
The land belongs to First Nations and the treaties are with the Crown.

No. They don’t. And Smith knows it. This is an attempt to avoid a split on the right by pacifying people to her right (wow. Amazing theres a space there)

Hahahaha….that was a truly funny moment.
I have a huge case of Leader envy. And I mean HUGE.
#WTFAmerica #HandsOffDoes anyone else find it weird that ‘having met with the owners of Canada’ didn’t even get a chuckle? As an owner, I thought that was an elegant and funny way of diffusing the crazy.
Reporter: I was watching your face during the meeting.. what was going through your mind when the President talked about erasing the border..
Carney: I’m glad that you couldn’t tell what was going through my mind
Reporter: Oh I could

Doesn’t have to be francophone to be addressed this way, it’s how the reporter, who is asked the question, also in this context yes she was his l predecessor, JT resigned and left office, prior to carney being leader and elected.
In the interim Freeland was the PM
I am Canadian. I know she’s from the Peace - so not Québécoise. My only issue was with her being referred to as Carney’s predecessor and you have reminded me that she was briefly his predecessor, so thanks. :)
That’s a good point. Yes.
I think it was a Toronto Star reporter who used the term "Madame Freeland". (Perhaps I missed other commentary?)
PBS called her Carney’s predecessor.
Madame Freeland is the proper way to address her as its French for Mrs Freeland, over the opposite of mademoiselle (Ms)if she wasn’t married. It has nothing to do with an official position
Yes. She isn’t Francophone actually - but sure. Ok. The issue was the reporter calling her Carney’s predecessor.
Oh how I miss having an Adult in the Oval Office!
It wasn't bad enough Trump didn't even let PM Carney answer any questions - he rambled on about California?! Trump is truly a looney toon Mob Boss!
And what was all that sh&t about 24k gold embellishments? So freaking czarist kremlin tacky.
Will you make us pay for the wall?
Need an LOL button
It’s a bit distressing that many American commentators’ grasp of Canadian politics so approximate. In this case, Carney’s predecessor was Justin Trudeau, not Madame Freeland - she was finance minister and deputy PM. Upside: at least PBS is not NYT confusing Premiers and Prime Ministers.

The lady at the frame shop had a lot of fun doing these. We love them and are rearranging some things in our living room so we can out them in there.
Wow! Minimalist and playfully organic. Comedic! Love these!
RFK Jr: "We found that there's a direct inverse correlation between fluoride exposure and low IQ in children. So the more you get, the stupider you are."
I do try not to be pedantic, but this is too good.
What this actually means: “there's a direct inverse correlation between fluoride exposure and low IQ in children” - is that fluoride makes kids smarter.
My painting LOST COAST
Reminds me of the group of seven - but with a really fresh colour palette. Lovely painting. Ignore the paint by numbers folks. ;)
We need the best educated workforce in the world.
We need the best teachers in the world.
We need to pay our teachers fairly for the important work they do.
No teacher in America should begin at less than $60,000 a year.
Adding Canada at 69k. Still too low.

Ya. He only said he preferred Carney as an attempt to influence the Cdn election. Who else do you know who would try to leverage loathing to his advantage? Sorry buddy. It’s not transferrable.
More detail on the Carney bond move thanks to Dan Satterfield.
I hope the penguins are coming to save us.

Here
The Social Security system is crashing, locking senior citizens out for long stretches nearly every day. And Trump's solution is to lay off 1000 more workers and slash the IT budget by 50%.
Start asking if the purpose is to crash our economy and society.

Social Security website keeps crashing, as DOGE demands cuts to IT staff
The worsening problems come as Elon Musk’s DOGE team pushes for more cuts at the agency, including in the department that oversees the website.
I absolutely believe it is. Trump gets autocracy, Putin gets payback for the break up of USSR. Trump avoids Novichok. Melania gets a medal.
I’m all for reducing spending, but to do that during a recession is economic suicide.
Anyone who knows anything knows that

I think it’s clear that suicide is the point. I think the question is why?

Wow. I really miss Pierre. Though the US feels a little more like a meth addled Russian troll farm than an intermittently benevolent elephant these days.
Im reposting this because it needs to be said and repeated.
Could not agree more. And I’m Canadian. He really appears to be intentionally destroying your country. It’s excruciating to watch and yet it’s so exciting to see grass roots democracy invigorated through protest. Please do not relent. You were made for this. You are rocking it. We are with you!
Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.
No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.
1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.
Please find the largest possible public platform for your analysis. We are mainly ‘the choir’ here - everyone needs to hear your clear-eyed view on this.
This is incredible. The "reciprocal tariffs" were calculated without actually looking at anything to do with tariffs.
This is the most amateur-hour crap you can imagine and it's going to straight tank the global economy.
james surowiecki has discovered where the completely fabricated trump tariff rate has come from for each country
"...for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us."

Yes. Completely. And destroy America and as much of the free world as you can - as retribution for the fall of the USSR. That’s the job - and he has accepted.

REPORTER: Do you think the president should move forward tomorrow with tariffs?
MIKE JOHNSON: Look, you have to trust the president's instincts on the economy
I guess some people - like fundamentalist christians - are used to overriding their instincts and outsourcing authority to some nebulous external source of rectitude. I on the other hand - will never respond well to seeing ‘you have to’ and ‘trust’ in the same sentence. Especially that one.
I’m dipping into MSNBC for a quick check in on today’s US fever dream. Serious Q: does anyone else obsess about the daily baking in Claire McCaskilll’s cake pedestal? Is it just me?
I can’t believe this is real! It’s like the worst caricature of how the right says Soros does politics.
In a video posted by Elon Musk’s PAC, a $1M check recipient linked voting to receiving the money:
“My name’s Ekaterina Deistler. …I did exactly what Elon Musk told everyone to do: sign the petition, refer friends and family, vote, and now I have a million dollars.”

"When Will the Lesson Be Learned "
If I could be in a room with

I would play this
Senator Schumer, how many times must a dictator be wooed & appeased?
I thank you for your service
But Senator Schumer, STEP DOWN NOW

It’s hard to see this. I have had great affection for Schumer - and am grateful to him. Let’s stay respectful even while *the parallel with Neville Chamberlain is clear and alarming*. If I were an American I’d be calling Hakeem Jeffries…who are you all calling?
I wish I lived in a caring, thoughtful country where politics wasn't about winning an election next year, but helping our citizens this year.

Really feel like I’m losing my mind: government OBVIOUSLY cannot punish an individual law firm for hiring someone it disfavors! It’s ludicrously unconstitutional and I feel like without a day of law school I could argue the case. And yet the best paid lawyers in the country are folding?
