- The first few months of 2025 have seen many changes in federal vaccine policy and programs. We've put together a list of regular updates—drawn from news reports and other information—that ranks the most significant changes to vaccination policy. Here's just a few. 🧵 (1/5)
- Progress in New York! The Food Safety and Chemical Disclosure Act will now go to the Senate Health Committee. Among other things, this bill aims to close a dangerous loophole that allows companies to sneak new chemicals into the food supply without oversight.
- Yesterday, the House Ag Committee debated its section of the reconciliation bill. On the plate for this debate are drastic changes to critical federal nutrition programs. These so-called state cost-sharing arrangements are cuts that will ultimately leave millions of working families hungry 🧵 (1/5)
- Things are happening in New York! The Food Safety and Chemical Disclosure Act, which would ban certain food dyes and force companies that sell packaged foods to disclose more information on additives in their products, is getting bipartisan support. From the @gothamist.com 👇
- Seafood is good for you. But it’s not easy to find species that don’t contain contaminants, aren’t overfished, and aren’t linked to human rights abuses. We were able to speak with @marionnestle.bsky.social on all these issues and more that she outlines in her new book The Fish Counter. 👇
- Leaked budget documents indicate that CDC leadership is considering plans to eliminate the lead poisoning program permanently. We joined together with several other organizations to submit a letter today calling for the restoration of this critical division division. 🧵 (1/5)
- Happy Mother's Day! As we honor all types of Mothers today, we want to shout it loud: families deserve a federal budget that puts their needs first! CSPI and @MomsRising.org are fighting to protect SNAP, WIC, and more important programs from harmful cuts! #MomSky
- Reposted by Center for Science in the Public InterestThe job of Surgeon General of the United States is not an entry-level position, and Dr. Casey Means is unqualified to serve in this regard.🧵 (1/5)
- Every child deserves a strong start! Investing in childcare means of protecting programs like WIC, which provides nutritious foods, nutrition ed., and health care referrals to over 6 million women, infants, and children who are at nutritional risk. #MomsFightForChildcare #MomSky @momsrising.org
- HISTORIC ANNOUNCEMENT! 🎉Today, New York enacted statewide, universal school meals starting in the 2025-2026 school year! This policy will provide free, nutritious meals to 2.7 million students in NY, easing financial burdens on families and ensuring every child is ready to learn. #Meals4AllNY
- 🚨FDA ALERT🚨 The FDA is recommending that consumers avoid using dinnerware such as bowls, plates, cups, and cutlery manufactured from the sheath of the Areca catechu plant, which are often termed “palm leaf plates” or “palm leaf dinnerware.” (1/2) ... Photo: K I Photography - Adobe Stock
- We’re joining @momsrising.org & @mamasconpoder.org to demand an end to Trump's attacks on child care, SNAP, Medicaid, & more. It’s time to put #FamiliesOverBillionaires! #MomsForMedicaid #MomSky

- CSPI President @drpeterlurie.bsky.social has been named one of 2025's Most Influential People in Health by TIME🧵 (1/4)
- When the USDA announced their "phase out" of synthetic dyes, we expected that to be true. Instead, HHS Secretary RFK, Jr. clarified that the agency had reached an “understanding” that industry, not the FDA, would voluntarily phase out dyes—a task companies have already failed before. 🧵 (1/4)

- "Make no mistake, the U.S. has a foodborne illness problem." Confidence in our food safety has been declining among Americans, and CSPI President @drpeterlurie.bsky.social wrote in @medpagetoday.bsky.social that the Trump admin's early moves on food reg. are not going to restore that confidence.
- The Trump administration's actions at FDA on food safety are cause for concern. New #OpEd in @medpagetoday.bsky.social from @drpeterlurie.bsky.social www.medpagetoday.com/opinion/seco... h/t @gfriedman.bsky.social
- Reposted by Center for Science in the Public InterestI could be wrong about this but I really think most Americans do not want to be forced to “do their own research” about food & drug & product safety and would rather that the government agencies that have been sorting that all out for them for decades not be obliterated in the name of “efficiency.”

- CSPI President @drpeterlurie.bsky.social writes in @postopinions.bsky.social that Kennedy’s “radical transparency” is anything but.
- The "food dyes ban" we heard about yesterday isn't a ban. It's the FDA asking companies to voluntarily stop using these dyes - and companies have made and broken this promise before.
