I tell my students this when they tell me about using AI. If you're using AI to do a thing, soon no one will get paid to do that thing.
Also, I tell them that AI is hella stupid and they're much smarter and much more creative than AI.
"What trillion-dollar problem is AI trying to solve?"
Wages. They're trying to use it to solve having to pay wages.
People should think of AI as a helper, not a replacer. Before spreadsheets, people calculated manually. Spreadsheets save time and may reduce how many people are involved, but you still need smart people to use and interpret them.

I don't think of AI as good or bad, it depends on how it's used. Fire can be used to keep us warm and safe, or to kill people. I understand concern over the people leading AI and their motivations, but there are applications of the tech that can be used to improve our lives.
If I had an apprentice that consistently performed tasks wrong 60 to 70 percent of the time and refused to get better, I would get a different apprentice/do the work myself.
I agree, if that apprentice (or AI) got it wrong 60 - 70% of the time you should seek a different solution. AI isn't ready or capable of doing everything we do, but if there's a menial task it does faster than humans and at an acceptable error rate, you have to consider it.
