- so the members of congress just stopped going to el salvador and not a single person who was illegally sent there has been returned and that’s just how it is now?
- That’s a win for @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social! Good job man.
- Maybe I am misguided or a broken record, but I've tried to get some traction on the fact that Jeffries took $44K+ from a Palantir manager. (I know the sum isn't as big as some, but still -- shouldn't that be more publicly known?)

- Both shots are exquisite!
- I feel like the AI programmed by the world's richest man telling users unsolicited to distrust courts and media for not taking South African "white genocide" narratives seriously enough should be a bigger story?
- It is also noteworthy that this alteration of the prompts to Grok (and the spewing of "white genocide" gibberish) occurred 2 days after the GOP proposed no state regulation of AI for a decade. What recourse will there be if these LLMs are not subject to regulation?
- The Plot To Destroy Public Education is one of the major constituent parts of the overall conservative Plot to Enslave America. Their vision is secular private academies for the rich, religious propaganda for the middle, and a rump of prison-like public schools to discipline the poor into servitude
- The private-school-choice movement is on the verge of a victory that has eluded it: Pushing school vouchers into all 50 states, even the liberal ones. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/13/u...
- I remember being bewildered the first time I heard a right-winger (maybe Glenn Beck?) use the term "government schools" to deride public education. Free public schooling--imperfect as it may be--is a democratizing factor, so of course they are bent on destroying it.

- That got the first and possibly only laugh out of me today. Thank you.
- He does this himself, right? Trump doesn't let anyone else apply his daily orange lacquer? www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-gush...
- At this point, it could be a body double in an orange Trump mask.
- RFK Jr. said multiple times during his house and senate hearings today that no scientists have been fired from federal agencies. Our reporting has shown that hundreds, if not thousands, of scientists have been let go from NIH/CDC/FDA
- The regime is pretending that only "bureaucrats" were fired, trying to sustain the fiction that they are interested in cutting "waste." If RFKJ concedes that scientists were fired, he's admitting that they have been lying. (He also doesn't get that sometimes scientists are in administrative roles).
- In talks and in our online course thebullshitmachines.com, I worry about how the extremely high cost of training LLMs concentrates power in the hands of the very few to shape our information environment. Grok going off the rails with talk of White Genocide is a striking example.
- This episode also highlights challenges with adjusting an LLM -- as another poster notes, it's likely that an emendation was made to the immovable prompts, and the result is Grok going haywire. At least this adjustment and its desired outcome are absurdly transparent. Others are not.
- I’m actually surprised this is the first time this has happened — federal charges raised against one of the higher-profile immigration cases.
- The Justice Department has now filed criminal charges against Harvard scientist Kseniia Petrova for “allegedly attempting to smuggle clawed frog embryos and embryonic samples into the United States.” www.justice.gov/usao-ma/pr/r...
- Just like Trump, they will not admit error and are doubling down. I am horrified for Kseniia Petrova.
- "The family of a 30-year-old metro Atlanta mother and nurse said she was declared brain dead more than 90 days ago — but is still being kept alive because she’s pregnant...Her medical team is legally required [by Georgia's abortion ban] to maintain life support until the fetus reaches viability."

- Hmm; that's very odd. Sorry for that!
