View full threadAbsolutely. There has always been a reactionary force of women against women's rights. I have never quite understood the angle but I imagine it's something like "we have a good life, let's not fuck it up by biting the hand that feeds."
- The role of white women in sustaining both slavery and Jim Crow is deeply fascinating (and disturbing). They both fed the enduring racist argument about “protecting” white women from from Black men, as well as taking on a leading role when necessary, almost in defiance of their gender roles.
- Bill Hader is developing a Jonestown series for HBO. Sign me up. This will be something.

- Niece just called Dr H to ask if Quiznos was a real thing after being introduced to the franchise via its weird commercials. They were weird but you have to admit they provided some brand recognition.

View full threadClub Sandwich is my "kitchen barometer". If a pub/resto/diner/eatery can make a decent Club sandwich, chances are pretty good everything else on the menu is relatively edible. Places that get weird with it, or manage to fuck it up? Huge red flag.

- Speaking only for myself, I don’t get it. Filmmakers are in the business of storytelling. They will never let a little thing like known facts get in the way of a good story. You can either accept this or don’t watch. Either way, it’s not a good look for history nerds.
