Just here for art, cute animals, games, and 🌤️.
- One weird thing about correspondence in lichess is that the app lets you look up see the moves of other games that have followed that opening. It does feel like cheating, but I suppose it's no different from consulting opening books when playing chess by mail. It's not directly getting help.
- The app does not allow this in live games, of course. But I do have to say that this is incredibly useful for learning openings.
- I'm pretty sure I've learned more chess in the past few months of correspondence than I have at any other point in my life. I've played chess on and off my whole life, but I've never played game after game continuously for a long stretch like this.
- I guess preview/streamer copies of Doom are out? I see lots of streams of it, and even some speedrun practice already. It's always a bit silly when this happens. The game goes up for streamers, and within 12 hours, there's like some guy speedrunning it with a fishing controller taped to their butt.
- It's just the nature of the internet these days. Imo it's better to just allow streams instead of restricting them like Persona did. But for players, It's probably best to put yourself under media blackout to avoid the people who try to dictate how you "should" play before the game is even out.
- Got Ishmael in PGR. Had to hit pity, but the game has been generous with currency lately. It's kind of funny how between Kuro and Hoyo games, most ult animations seem to fit into the same few trends: - zip zip zip zip zip - reality is a ball in my hands - fuckin huge smash

- That weapon wheel slowdown is the bane of the devs' existence lol. Haven't people been exploiting it in one form or another since Doom 2016?

- Ohh, so I misunderstood the modifier. So it's meant to specify that you're referring to the original version of the noun, instead of specifying just any version of the noun?
- Checked out the cat cafe for a potential friend for my current cat. She seems okay. It's hard to tell for sure because she was mostly sleeping and we couldn't stay long, but she seems gentle enough. Approached me for treats, was relatively okay with being picked up, and didn't use claws at all.
- Gaming question of the day. Name a modern game from the past 5 years that you think will be remembered years from now in gaming history and be considered a classic? #gamingsky #gaming #promosky #gqotd
- Probably either Baldur's Gate 3 or Elden Ring.
- My top 10 RPGs 1. Chrono Trigger 2. FFXIV 3. Mass Effect 2 4. Shadowrun: Dragonfall 5. Fallout 1 6. Mario RPG 7. Persona 5 8. FF6 9. Parasite Eve 10. Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume I'm struggling to remember what I played lol.

- I got what seems like the "normal" ending in Entropy Effect. Mechanically the game is a lot of fun. It translated large movesets pretty faithfully to work in a beat 'em up format. But I don't think I've ever seen a game have such a clear separation between story and gameplay.
- Like, the combat portion of the game is fantastic to play, but it's only bolted on to the game's world and story as "the thing you do to progress". That "thing" could have just as easily been a fishing game and the underlying plot would barely change.

- I think iirc Dante can die? I remember some chapter where some people being tasked to help the gang were told to prioritize Dante. Maybe it's because he can bring back the rest, but maybe it also means he's vulnerable.
- “Cats are like potato chips – you can’t have just one.” – Unknown
- I hope my older potato chip gets along with the new one
- in a just world, this would get people fined to a degree that they could never work in technology ever again
- Enshittification everywhere :(
- You know, I can't give my kid's teacher gifts worth more than around $20. The rule is completely understandable. Gift limits like that are there so that people can't give things that are so lavish that they are basically bribes. Just a thought.

- Either Hope or Vanille in FF13. I don't know why that game was so good at making nearly its entire cast insufferable.

- It probably has to be the SNES, right? Well, either that or the DS because of a combination of the console's longevity + ports.

- Glad she's back. They're so fast.
- I heard somewhere that the Mars Preserverance rover uses a nuclear power supply. It's one of the boxy things near the back. How does it provide power? I assume something that small doesn't boil water through a turbine.
- I'm actually not sure how anything generates electricity without turning a turbine.

- Got two elevated bowls for my cat to try. One is too tall. He looks like Garfield with his face in the birdbath when he uses it. The second one is a bit short but still better than a normal bowl. Plus it's wide, which seems to irritate his whiskers less. So I'm probably gonna go with #2.
- I wrote about the intense, violent, and incredibly bigoted harassment I've experienced online since my VAllure article www.vice.com/en/article/v...

- It seems some vtubers are aware that a portion of their fanbase consist of these types of people, but don't try to stamp out those attitudes. Maybe it's because they are afraid of provoking their own fanbase. Or worse, maybe some are quietly courting these people to pad their numbers.
- Cat alignment chart. Where does your kitty fall?
- Mine is probably the closest to a rat bastard. He will explore anywhere that he can physically fit into. I have repeatedly warned him that he is exploring spaces that I can not physically reach if he got stuck in there, but he does not listen.

- Poor boy. Hopefully he heals with time.
- The way a lot of vtuber fans gleefully take any excuse to harass others is disgusting. 4chan has a lot of influence on these people, which means they share a lot of attitudes, such as being hateful, dismissive, and scornful about everything in an attempt to feel superior to others.
- I don't understand what's going on, but it has animals eating watermelons, so it is automatically peak content youtu.be/3nE6lu1fpUE?...

- Immersive sims like Deus Ex, Dishonored, etc. But I also recognize exactly why they don't get much love. They are full of content that is missable by design, and they don't sell well enough to justify the amount of resources needed to do that.
- Gaming question of the day. What boss fight do you really enjoy and why? (Do you just like the boss character, does it have interesting mechanics, does it have great music, is it cinematic, etc) #gaming #bossfight #gamequestion #opinion #gqotd
- Raven from Stellar Blade. She was a good final exam that asked you to use everything you've learned throughout the game, is an appropriate jump in difficulty for a big boss fight that the game had been foreshadowing for some time, and has awesome music.

- I honestly can't remember. I think pretty much every rpg I've played is fairly well known and loved by at least some people, even if I didn't like it much. I guess if I had to pick... I guess I couldn't get into one of the dragon quest games.
- Finished AC7. I really enjoyed it - it's short and sweet. I feel like Armored Core 6 was much more fleshed out in both gameplay and story, but there's nothing wrong with AC7 just having a very straightforward and fun gameplay loop that doesn't overstay its welcome.
- I think my previous comments about it still stand. Some of its level gimmicks are more frustrating than fun, and the game is much harder than I expected. I enjoyed but like other straightforward games, I feel like I've had my fill of the gameplay and don't feel a need to replay it.

- I wonder what it would be like to play the game with super leviathan money. Would those people just max out everything and then get bored?
- Me in chess: I think this works? It would be cool if it does. *It works and I win* Me: 🙂 Post game analysis computer: You actually blundered, but you both missed it. Me: 🥲
- This is the sequence I was trying. I thought it would lead to a bunch of exchanges where I was down a queen for a few moves, but the opponent would only have a queen left and be unable to stop my pawn from queening. But it seems I missed an in-between move in that sequence to make it work.
- This stuff is crazy to me because I can't even imagine my own cat doing this to me, much less a wild cat

- Yeah, one of the nice things about a good game is how you can talk about it with other people the same way you would talk about a book or movie.

- Probably either SNES or PS1.
- The endless struggle lol. I like Bridget and Yata's fighting styles, but it's also hard to justify playing them when I have stronger characters in their roles.
