- Reposted by Sally LowellProfessor Gina Neff of Queen Mary University London told the BBC ChatGPT is "burning through energy", and the data centres used to power it consume more electricity in a year than 117 countries. This is just ChatGPT, not even all Gen AI. Using more electricity than >60% of the world.
- This is really great. Congratulations to @guijacquemet.bsky.social and all authors. #PaperThemeTune can be anything from the atypical album Milijard by Circle, who are Finnish and also really great.
- Here we share our opinions on "Practical considerations for data exploration in quantitative cell biology" journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/... Joanna, Hanna and I worked quite a bit on this piece and I hope you find it useful Many thanks to @jcellsci.bsky.social for publishing it

- Now @steveroyle.bsky.social tells us the many ways that not-for-profit publisher @biologists.bsky.social supports and funds the activities of biologists. Stark contrast to some other publishers, who suck £££$$$ out of science and into the pockets of shareholders #biologists100
