I feel like America doesn’t have nearly enough safeguards against a President corruptly enriching himself in office.
Because we’ve rightly assumed, until now, that voters would never let anyone that crooked anywhere near the Oval.
May 12, 2025 20:14It was more that the founders envisioned the presidency as a lifetime of service award. No one who served their country at every part of their adult life would DREAM of corruption. But Trump never served anyone but himself. So here we are.
I feel like we did. We had separate yet equal branches of government, we had checks and balances, we laws, oversight,had a constitution, we had a general notion of morality, we had voters who were honestly interested in peace and prosperity over hate and violence…but those were more civilized times.
