Dancing Paladin
I Like good comics, and know the difference.
I LOVE the craft and art of sequential graphical storytelling.
I mostly post/repost about comics, creating comics, and comics creators. Very ocassionaly other stuff of interest.
(Will comment on ANYTHING)

- Reposted by Dancing PaladinHappy 73rd birthday to the great DAVID BYRNE. I’ve probably clocked more hours listening to the Talking Heads than any other band 🎧
- 🤷 Good.

- Reposted by Dancing PaladinSaddened by the news of legendary Oscar-winning SFX/makeup Maestro GREG CANNOM. He was the genius behind memorable iconic movie makeups like Jim Carrey’s in THE MASK, Robin Williams in MRS DOUBTFIRE, and Gary Oldman in BRAM STOKERS DRACULA. Plus THE LOST BOYS, BLADE, HANNIBAL, just to name a few. 🖤
- A few more for today.
- That's all for now.
- More.
- Still Friday, still Moebius's birthday?
- It's Friday, and also Jean Giraud's birthday, so here's some well known Moebius!
- Can we stop calling it "Artificial Intelligence" (which it is not) and only call it "Manufactured Mediocrity" which it absolutely is? By its nature, it can only ever be regurgitated, derivative, and formula content. It is not a replacement for creativity - it's a shortcut to talentless hack work.
- Lettering is to comics as a musical score is to movies. It sets the pace, the mood, imbues the dialog with tone, provides the inflections of key moments. When it's good, it makes a joyful singing book. When it's not, it's a jarring, jangling cacophony. You can make it through, but it's not fun.
- If you, like me, absolutely adore Autumnlands and have been long suffering fans patched for more of it, then this thread will bring you joy!
- About 9 years ago (I remember that Obama was still president) Kurt Busiek & I did a rough mapping of a 3rd arc of Autumnlands. We brainstormed all kinds of cool stuff & we even completed 2 issues. They were in a flat file for most of the last decade. That’s long enough to sit on work so I’m sharing:

- Reposted by Dancing PaladinLongtime background artist Irv Wyner (1904–2002) produced numerous paintings during the 1950s for Warner Bros. 'Looney Tunes' animated shorts. Come see these original works up close along with other 20th century cartoon creations in our current exhibition 'A Treasury of Animation.' #LooneyTunes

- 100% I think this is why you can't *convince* someone that the comics medium is the amazing alchemical magic it is. And why most comics fans never needed convincing. If your brain does the graphical/textual gestalt automatically, you're already on board and likely to derive joy from the experience.
- Reading Bluesky in the wake of Pope Francis' passing tells me that we have effectively reached Twitter dumpster fire state here. ✅ Flaming poo takes ✅ Bot followers ✅ Conspiracy Theories ✅ Incessant need to tie everything to political beef du jour.

- Reposted by Dancing PaladinThis is what I have been working in: a Superman double sized special book, out this summer, script by Dan Jurgens, color by Adriano Lucas and aditional inks by Caio Filipe. It’s gonna be something special :) @dc.com screenrant.com/superman-tre...
- Today is a Good Day! The @terrymooreart.bsky.social Covers collection along with Trigger Warning and a sketchbook. What a *ahem* beauty this book is :)
- I love this. The @chrissamnee.bsky.social image itself is a joy- In your mind, you can hear the wind rustling the leaves in trees you don't see. The conceptual exercise of creating wind through facial expression and body posture? That's magic. That's a creation spell cast with a wand dipped in ink.

- It's Friday. How about some ridiculously detailed Arthur Adams?
- Reader, this is a metaphor.

- Alan Davis is without a doubt the most underappreciated artist in comics.

- Perusing @terrymooreart.bsky.social 's Covers from Kickstarter, and was reminded what a staggeringly exquisite illustration Ray Lago contributed. Get yourself someone who looks at you like Katchoo looks at Francine when no one is looking. A wonderful piece of storytelling magic in a single image.
