- I’ve just called my reps. Blackburn took my voicemail but Hagerty’s office had a lovely person take my statement and even commiserate with this message. NGL, I took several days to process what’s happening between this bill & the USCO report and firings. Today, I’m back to fighting. Don’t give up.
- Folks call your Senators now!! A ban on any state laws on GenAi for 10 YEARS is gonna do unthinkable harm! For those of you wondering what to say here are two posts you can use to build your own script (use alt script to cut and paste) Need to find your representatives? Here you go: 5calls.org

- If we ever actually became a meritocracy no one would be hit harder than the commentariat, just utterly devastating to them.
- "ai is inevitable" no you are just a weak coward
- Pay the salaries of those who produce the research. Subsidize the grants they need to carry it out. Sponsor their efforts to get it published. Pay for a subscription to be allowed to read it. Contract a tech firm to mash it up and feed parts of it back to you.

- BREAKING: The scene at the Rayburn Building is pure rebellion. Protesters are swarming in during live hearings on Medicaid cuts. Security’s losing control. Because when the government wages war on the poor, the poor fight back.
-
View full threadThis isn’t just about Medicaid. It’s about decades of policies that punish the struggling while the rich get tax breaks and subsidies. And now, people are saying enough. This is what resistance looks like in real time. (2/)
- That’s why I wrote F*ck Around & Find Out: The 50-State Civic Uprising Manual Because protests like this don’t happen in a vacuum — they happen because people are organizing, strategizing, and refusing to stay silent This book shows you exactly how to take that energy and build lasting power (3/)
- The Rayburn Building is on fire with protest. People are swarming the halls during live hearings on Medicaid cuts. Security can’t contain it — because when the government wages war on the poor, the poor fight back. This isn’t chaos. This is a reckoning. (1/)
- Shout out to the disabled community for always showing up, always being on the right side of history and justice, always willing to put their bodies on the line, all for the cause of making sure *everyone* has the basic dignity of health care.
- Oh jfc. Do not indemnify these people against their own jörmungandr-sized ouroboros of bullshit. Let them be sued into the fucking ground for *At Least* negligence in re: failure to certify their products' operations to the highest available standards of expertise. Do none of you remember 2008-10?!
- Lloyd's of London insurers launch a product to cover companies for losses caused by AI chatbot errors; the policies are developed by YC-backed startup Armilla (Financial Times) Main Link | Techmeme Permalink
- Again, @ft.com reporters or whoever else needs to hear this: "Hallucinations" are not the result of "flaws," they are literally inherent in & inextricable from what LLM systems do & are. Whether an "AI" tells you something that matches reality or something that doesn't, *it is working as designed*
- This is why they can't fix it: it's not broken It's *structurally indifferent to truth*
- Last year i couldn't even get out of bed on my mom's birthday but this year I'll be on a trip because my therapist was smart enough to get me to make plans so I'd have something to look forward to and this was before I ended up with so many free or discounted concert tickets
- Its almost two years since she's passed and I'll be in Vegas with some friends and some film cameras instead of moping all day in bed again.
- I'm really glad past me set this up for future me because frankly I haven't felt like getting out of bed for a while but past me filled up may with so many events in a row.
- There's a thread on Twitter that purports to show that AI can save money by producing visual effects better than Hollywood. And it's just identical shots that wouldn't exist without straight plagiarism of the source material. It might be the dumbest thread I've ever seen.
- For two years our team has been digging into this extensivley. It's one of the clearest examples of how Big Tech uses humans to power its business model without giving them the support or compensation they deserve for driving massive profits and keeping social media safe(er) for the rest of is.

- Something I find it fascinating is how people gender me based on the job they connect me to. My public contact info lists me as Alex Brown they/them. However, when strangers email me as the librarian, they Mrs or Ms me. But when they email me as the archivist (I run both depts) they Mr me.

- Did you call your US Senators/Congressional Reps yet? The vote is happening this week, if not today. Tell them to kill the AI regulation ban in the Budget Reconciliation Bill. Tell them how this will harm you, it is bigger than just the creative industries, it affects EVERY SINGLE PERSON directly!
- AI CSAM = unregulated, nonconsensual AI deepfakes = unregulated, denial of healthcare claims for arbitrary reasons = unregulated, spying on workers / terminating them based on certain words said = unregulated, denial of employment based on faulty algorithms that use gender / race = unregulated, etc.

- There are many wonderful game accessibility nonprofits doing life changing work, from SpecialEffect to Makers Making Change, from NothingWithoutUs to Everyone Can, from CapGame to Warfighter Engaged to GameToo to the Let's Play Games Project. Don't let the current news distract from that.
