- Dear cilia researchers, join us in the heart of the beautiful Vosges mountains to share your latest findings! This year, partnership with @for5547.bsky.social and keynote lectures by @micromotility.bsky.social and @mick-lab.bsky.social Registration is now open www.cfc2025.conferences-pasteur.org
- Happy moments ahead of Mark Carrington special symposium tomorrow @uniofcam.bsky.social
- Superb piece of work!
- I am super excited to share our latest work on the structures of doublet microtubules from trypanosomatid parasites, the causative agents of leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, and African sleeping sickness. tinyurl.com/48sh3xn5
- Brilliant work with unprecedented level of resolution of the trypanosome axoneme!
- Trypanosome doublet microtubule structures reveal flagellum assembly and motility mechanisms | Science www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
- Exciting opportunity!
- Re-posts appreciated! We have an open PhD position w/ Prof Harold Auradou on #microswimmers/#protists in complex media! Students get to spend at least 12 months in Paris, and will receive their PhD from both Exeter and Paris-Saclay! Apply by 31st Mar. More details: adum.fr/as/ed/voirpr...
- Cilia talking to each other! 🔊
- Last from the archives, scanning #electronmicroscopy pictures of #cilia in #kidney IMCD3 cells (no triton) by Rania and Thierry from @bastinlab.bsky.social. The longest straight cilium ever and two interacting ones!
- Thanks to a new mass spec pipeline for analysis of the #tubulin tail, the team of Julia Chamot-Rooke and Mariette Matondo revealed a few surprises for #trypanosome beta-tubulin: -a new glutamylation site -far less exhaustive detyrosination Preprint here: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
- Stripping mammalian cells was an exciting experience 😉 Transition fibres are even visible on the right image!
- In 2009, Rania Ghossoub in my lab and Thierry Blisnick in @bastinlab.bsky.social decided to apply a protocol used in Trypanosoma to remove membranes and have access to the axoneme, here is what they saw in IMCD3… #cilia
- Great opportunity to join a fantastic lab with one of the most creative PIs!
- Looking forward to know more about the amazing choanoflagellates!
- Excited to announce the 10th "Choanoflagellates & Friends Workshop" over May 20-22 in our own Institut Pasteur in Paris: 2025choanocon.wordpress.com Registrations open til March 15, abstract til March 5. Pre-conference event for students/postdocs on 19/05. Plenty of slots for selected talks/posters!
- A video clip to see #trypanosomes in #3D #FIB-SEM Many thanks to Valérie Zeitoun and Jeanne Fenouil for their patience during the recording and to Adeline Mallet and Manu Majrouh at the UBI of @pasteur.fr www.pasteur.fr/fr/journal-r...
- I forgot to say that the tagged tubulin incorporates very well in the spindle, here after a 4-hour induction (green, magenta is axoneme + transition zone). However, we could not see a defined polarity, in contrast to flagellar or cortical microtubules.
- Solving 25 years of frustration, Daniel Abbühl managed to tag trypanosome tubulin and to express it in an inducible manner, hence revealing flagellum assembly! A tour-de-force! Preprint here: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

- Great work showing that cilia are worth even more than motility! 👏👏👏
- 🚨New paper out!🚨 Excited to share our study published in Science Translational Medicine. This 5yr project was led by Susan @dutcherlab.bsky.social and Steve Brody. We asked a simple question: why do some PCD patients develop more severe lung disease than others? 1/ www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
- And was great with 9 talks and close to 100 participants!
- Better with the link 😅 @club-cfc.bsky.social
- Follow our French #cilia network! Only on BlueSky!
- Follow our French #cilia network! Only on BlueSky!
- Great talk of Christine at the #cilia symposium @institutimagine.bsky.social today! proud PI! Many thanks to @alexbnmrh.bsky.social for the organisation!
- Come and celebrate the exceptional career of Mark Carrington (24th March at University of Cambridge)!
- 🚨 Retirement Symposium for Prof Mark Carrington of the University of Cambridge Our #Trypanosoma colleagues may want to attend this symposium in Cambridge on the 𝟐𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡, 2025 (register by the 15th!) - Details at QR code & tinyurl.com/2uw8tryu
- Brilliant work of Maude Leveque with @mila-montpellier.bsky.social Jeremy Vincent among others revealing unexpected features of #tubulin detyrosination in Leishmania, especially in the amastigote stage!
- Pasteur is on Bluesky! 😀
- Exciting programme for webinars in parasitology next year, including @pasteur.fr colleagues Gretchen Diffendall (Artur Scherf's lab), Brice Rotureau, Karinna Rubio (Lucy Glover's lab) and Chetan Chitnis, stay tuned!
- We are pleased to announce the ParaFrap Webinar program for 2025. Join us labex-parafrap.fr/en/conferenc... The ParaFrap network wishes you a happy holiday season.
- How do #trypanosomes restrict #IFT to only 4 doublet microtubules? Two hypotheses were proposed (restriction @ the flagellum base or @ the injection) but in this preprint, Aline Alves reveals it is a third way! It all happens in the proximal portion of the flagellum! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
- Inspiring discussions with paralympic athletes Mathieu Thomas, Esteban Herrault, Nantenin Keita and Tresor Makunda @pasteur.fr, raising fascinating parallelisms with the challenges we are facing as scientists
- Exciting PhD project in the lab of Sue Vaughan at #Oxford Brookes University to study #trypanosome basal bodies and flagellum formation www.jobs.ac.uk/job/DKY713/n...
- Congratulations to Jean Marc @tsagmoj.bsky.social who won an Early Career Entomologist Award from the @royentsoc.bsky.social for his PhD work on tsetse fly midgut composition and its possible impact on #trypanosome transmission! 💪 Read more here: www.royensoc.co.uk/res-journal-...
