- my kingdom for anyone on the “dems should take culturally moderate positions” to explain what this actually means in practice? www.thebulwark.com/p/hard-calls...

- Don't forget the transphobia, since the author of this article is suggesting the same "just throw them under the bus" approach that ended with trans people losing all rights and protections in the UK and seeing their healthcare effectively banned.
- ok but for real if you want to make a really good indie (or AA) games the number one way is "be financially comfortable via other means" blue prince guy owned a popular website generating income, toby fox was a successful musician... frankly if we had a UBI youd get SO MANY GOOD GAMES
- Even big budget stuff would benefit because a toxic work environment can only thrive with the implicit threat of employees losing their homes or healthcare if they leave. If employees can just walk out you have to treat them like human beings. Not burning out workers will get us better games.
- Canada subsidized 1000xRESIST France subsidized Clair Obscur Governments pay for lots of art Normally

- My understanding is the US just has pretty terrible arts funding across the board.
- not to add to the dogpile, but the reality here is often the opposite. tacit corruption can easily be worse because it's more deniable and a lot more lucrative

- Yeah, it required an act of congress for the US government to give Mar-a-Lago back to the Post estate. Despite the fact it was not fit for purpose (it was intended to be a Presidential retreat, but couldn't be properly secured) and was a huge drain on federal funds it couldn't simply be given back.
- My seat mate on my DC to SF flight can’t stop won’t stop. Total coincidence but utterly fun.

View full threadYou really haven’t done any research on her have you? She was one of the first ever politicians to stand up and fight for the gays getting ravaged by AIDS.
- Yet she considers Reagan her favorite President and decided to celebrate the Reagans for Pride in 2022. There is no such thing as a progressive who loves Reagan. Real allies don't think fondly of men who tried to eradicate queer people from their country.
- guess we'll be taking a trip to canada this fall to get boosted
- as @beyerstein.bsky.social’s quote here notes, “be nice to antivaxxers” has not worked.
- interesting how when these people have power it is no longer about your choice. they will decide if you can get a vaccine or not.
- Anyone who was paying attention to the very same "Parents Rights" movement and their attacks on trans rights would have seen this coming from a mile away. They've already pivoted from "we should have the right to deny our kids care" to "you're not allowed to provide your kids care" once already.

- Japan sure loves it's loan words.
- Shame on Keir Starmer for bending the knee. Some progressive he is.
- Progressive? He was set up in 2017 by McSweeney to shaft Corbyn and all socialists when Corbyn won back 30 seats lost in 2015 GE New Labour had their knives out and got a totem of centrist nothingness The mantra? We aren't the Tories! do progressives troll in the Sun for votes? No effing way
- Yeah, he has never been a progressive and the entire aim of his faction of Labour is to push all progressives out of the party and block leftward movement in the UK. As Kier himself said during the campaign: he is a conservative.
- Voters literally just approved the addition of gender identity protections (which opposition framed entirely as about trans athletes) to the NY Consitution 62-37, a higher margin than the state gave to Kamala Harris
- if you won’t stand up for the humanity of trans people idk why anyone should trust you with a bottle opener let alone a district www.timesunion.com/state/articl...
- Democrats will alienate 1000 voters on the left to get one right wing pundit to say they might possibly consider maybe vote for them in the next election.
