A new day, a new world order.

- They're literally in the position of kingmaker right now, despite not having official party status. The NDP isn't that cooked.

- Pretty well, we got the Canada Dental Plan, $10/day childcare & Universal Pharmcare for insulin & birth control from it

- I'm rooting for a Lib minority of 170 seats, and the NDP gets to be playmaker without official party status lol
- [Not loaded yet]
- CBC projects Lib government, but unsure of minority or majority
- The gap may change based on western metropolitan areas, Vancouver & the Island will probably make it a Liberal majority, though.
- [Not loaded yet]
- I'm calling the election now. The Liberals are just shy of a majority, but the difference is enough for the NDP to continue to be playmakers in parliament.

View full threadIf the Cons lose, PP is definitely out, but I don't think the far-right faction of the party disappears. What will be interesting though, is to see where that disappointment gets directed towards. Will they harbor disdain and blame Trump for causing a LPC win? Will they double down on Trumpism? 🤷🏻♂️
- I'll tell you what though; the boomers (especially women) are the ones shunning the Conservatives and rallying for Mark Carney, so there's been a very strange unification of politic goals between young progressives/leftists voting strategically and boomers being terrified of Pollivere.
- I think this election is going to be a restructuring moment for the NDP. While I do think some of the poor performance is because of Jagmeet's ethnicity, I think the NDP doesn't focus enough sell itself enough on being the kingmaker to Liberal minorities.
- Liberals with majorities tend to govern with more fiscally conservative goals, but Liberals in minorities with NDP as the playmaker keeping them in power have got us many of the public health and welfare institutions that we hold (pr held) dear to us. Tommy Douglas got us Universal Healthcare 🏥

- I don’t know. People want to grasp to grasp to ideas of legality like a life preserver while authoritarians warp the legal system. If you want to drown in the water, best of luck. But people are going to have to wrap their minds around the fact that authoritarian takeovers change everything.

- To be honest, even though it'll be painful, the Trump tariffs will actually help the cause due to people being unemployed. Unemployment + Good Weather = Mass Protest People need to prepare to organize those economically impaired by incorporating them into the movement. It'll be good for everyone.

- The poster isn't talking about AI. Your reply felt very out of place then if it was talking about AI when the poster is not.

- Some people, like this poster, legitimately say "all men" or "all leftists." You remind me of those rando people who run defense for extremely inflammatory statements and then proclaim that being inflammatory was never the point of their post.
- [Not loaded yet]
- Piracy isn't plagiarism, first of all. Second of all, people are advocating piracy of really old works of literature and academic writings, such as textbooks or paywalled articles. I've literally never never seen anyone say, "You should pirate the work of struggling creators." If you did? Post it.
- [Not loaded yet]
- The poster literally implied a universal experience by explicitly using the word "consensus." It just seems like you're playing defense for someone who likes to misconstrue the opinions of others by using relatively absolutist statements. It shouldn't be hard to say "sorry, some leftists."

- An upfront paycheque for an agreed upon amount sooner than your scheduled one is set to appear. For example, if you start a new job but can't until the next pay period, you can sometimes ask for a certain amount to be "advanced" to you, that will be deducted from future earnings.

- It truly pisses me off how quick to not only block, but to comment and then block. They demand so much accountability from the people they deride and revil, but fold like a broken deck chair as soon as they are given the slightest pushback.
- Yes, because the onus of galvanizing voters should and must be on politicians and their institutions trying to build coalitions and get the popular vote share. It sets a dangerous and unproductive precedent to blame an amorphous and unaccountable bloc of non-voters for their behaviour.
- You can never hold non-voters accountable, ever, even in mandatory voting systems. That's why we have anonymous voting as a society. If you want to hold people accountable for assisting a tyrant being elected to power, you need to blame the institutions, their executives, & their public supporters.
- [Not loaded yet]
- No, they did not. No one is entitled to votes, and you are not responsible for who gets voted into office when you do not vote. Hillary lost because of misinformed independent voters being influenced by the investigation of her emails from whatever that dipshits name was, not Bernie supporters.
