- This is indeed excellent. Also contains a page with a deliciously law-review text-to-footnote ratio
- Ooh, must take a look. The idea that music copyright could be infringed by "copying a few notes", while pursued in practice in the courts, is basically a way of saying "I don't understand music". (Not a criticism of the paper, but of the lawyers.)

- A #BlueskyLullaby for tonight: Here's the great jazz pianist Keith Jarrett—who turned 80 last week—performing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in 1984. This video has a musical transcription on screen if you want to try to follow along with his insanely creative reharmonizations. See you around.

- Before I discovered Keith Jarrett, I didn't know I had the capacity to sit in silent rapture for over an hour and listen to somebody jazz noodle on a piano. youtu.be/Chnpqca6HDE?...

- for ever and for ever, to the crack of doom, the sea will insult and murder him, and pulverize the stateliest, stiffest frigate he can make
- The MOVE Bombing happened on this day 40 years ago in my hometown of Philadelphia. I was told some time ago that Americans would never feel what it was like to be bombed. But by the time I was born in 1988, it had already happened in the city I was born in. This is not ancient history.

- Honestly if you needed to name one twentieth century figure who did the most to change American life you wouldn’t go too wrong with Betty Friedan.
- Betty Friedan raised awareness through her writing. Pauli Murray pushed her to lead an organization. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
- Thanks. I wrote that piece.

- A #BlueskyLullaby for tonight: Everybody knows Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer." Famously a piano song, with some fine band arrangements. But holy smokes, this is impressively difficult: Richard Smith playing his own arrangement for solo guitar. See you around. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Peh5...
- l played that on piano for years. A fave contemporary piece of a classical music lover. Great guitar adaptation.

- “The kid in Texas didn’t die of measles, it was pneumonia” Here we go again. The anti vaxx crowd are unable to face the fact that not vaccinating children has caused the first pediatric death in a decade. So they’re doing exactly what they do with Covid. Denying the cause of death.
