Half-deflated balloons have an odd, almost lifelike presence. It's disconcerting. I have these balloons from my 40th in the bathroom and the numbers are still somewhat alive, though they are more sad sacks of helium at this point.
Nov 23, 2024 08:07What makes them so creepy is that the tiniest of air currents now influence them. I can just be nearby, and they dip toward me. As if they want to see what I'm up to, perhaps glance at my phone screen. Maybe they want to say hi. It's a slow, graceful motion. It's uncanny.
