Until you've seen the aurora in person, you can't really appreciate the experience. No photo or video I've seen can capture the surreal, almost-magical quality. It is far more than just "pretty lights" and is something you can practically feel- probably the charged particles in the air, but still. 😂

I got a pleasant surprise in eastern Washington last October and have been tracking the sun ever since hoping for a repeat.

I lived in Fairbanks Alaska and it was stunning!
