Been a while since I posted something that flooded my mentions with really bad takes that required blocking. But the people coming out of the woodwork to suggest that *talking to the feds* is somehow good & righteous, as opposed to shutting the fuck up, is really trying my patience.

i will defend The Last Jedi to my dying breath not just because it is a very good movie but because it tried to use Star Wars as a medium to tell a story rather than telling more of the Star Wars story

Its actually maddening to me how brilliant and bad it is at the same time and how it perfectly mapped onto the culture war at the time. It feels like it was made in a lab to polarize people lol
While still a very flawed movie, it dared to do interesting things and, as you say, try to tell a new story.
And then Jam Jam Ambrams chucked it all out in Rise of Skywalker.
But that hyperspace ram manoeuvre was fucking hardcore.
The ram was cool but kind of instantly lore breaks the universe (hyperspace drives are very common in verse so making them a super weapon is problematic) and it muddled the whole dont kamikazi yourself thread of the Finn plot.

The finn, poe and rey chemistry was actually kind of miraculous but that was sidelined in 8 and killed completely in the irredeemable 9.
This is terrible and I really wish scientists had heeded the warnings from colleagues in the liberal arts
