1) USPS did not lose $3.3b. It provided a service that cost $3.3b. *The Pentagon* loses you money, however, every time it accidentally yeets a fighter jet off the deck of a carrier
NEW: The U.S. Postal Service posted a net loss of $3.3 billion in this fiscal year’s second quarter mainly due to “significant challenges out of our control,” including workers’ compensation costs, Luke Grossmann, USPS chief financial officer, said at the open session of the governing board meeting
May 10, 2025 18:332) USPS workers comp claims are as high as they are because we are increasingly reliant on an aging workforce that is pressed into longer and longer hours with increasingly unsafe work conditions.
We have a 50% turnover rate inside 90 days. You can't refuse to pay people a living wage and then be surprised when they keep quitting, forcing you to rely on an older and older workforce to literally shoulder the labor shortfalls, and then again be surprised when people's bodies break down
Right wing idiots wanted this place run like a business instead of a service, and this is what it cost you: carriers pushing their bodies to the brink of collapse and sometimes beyond, so they don't get harassed by micromanagers who want you to account for every time you stop for 60 seconds
And of course they just so happen to list "workers' compensation costs" as some unavoidable problem the workers cause, instead of it being payout enforced by the union for when management tries to screw over workers.
The union reps spend all their time filling out grievance reports.
Simply misinformation to justify the orange old man’s desire to privatize it to make money for his regime. DeJoy was put in to break it for him. Wake up people.
MAGA has no concept of public good or public service.
Another case of blaming the workers for being injured on the job. I don't know how many millions USPS spent on trying to fire or transfer injured workers in the early 2000s when I was a Union Rep rather than fix the unsafe conditions that caused the injuries.

Oh look, chump change!
Exactly.
Amen to all of this. Former USPS clerk.
The USPS is broken. It’s mail theft, carriers being robbed, workers pulling overtime, and management with no oversight and no will to do anything. We are at a point where anyone sending a check in the mail is asking to be ripped off. And we don’t even talk about it, much less fix it.
