- Almost 50 MPs to rebel over welfare cuts as Labour revolt grows ahead of key vote The government's own impact assessment on the plans estimates that 250,000 people will be pushed into relative poverty www.itv.com/news/2025-05...
- They'll mostly, pointlessly abstain.
- So during Brexit Nigel Farage whipped everyone up into a nationalist frenzy and said a bunch of lies about how they could use Brexit bucks to fund healthcare and now everyone knows he was lying and it didn’t do anything for anyone and Britain is like “damn this guy is smart we should listen to him”
- Not everyone, only half the people who voted, about 24% of the population.
- “They (Reform UK) voted against •stronger SSP • the right to guaranteed hours • protection from unfair dismissal • stronger protections for pregnant mothers • a package worth £600 for poorest workers.. We’re backing British workers, they vote against them at every turn” PM Keir Starmer #PMQS 👏
- But they are not backing anyone who isn't in work, for whatever reason, retired, disabled, unemployable. They are not even backing the poorly paid.
- I'm constantly getting impressed by @richardburgon.bsky.social these days . He is fast becoming a rare breed of politician with an echo of folk like Michael Foot. If he carries on like this he is in danger of joining comrade Corbyn on the 'outside back benches' in the 'Socialist campaign group'.
- It is a sad situation when someone like Richard Burgon, who encompasses the true values of Labour, is regarded as in danger of ejection for speaking out against anti-socialist rhetoric! Starmer is all about hanging on to power by fair means but generally foul, it turns out he's a despicable man.
- I found a nice word in Jane Austen's Persuasion: "angry pleasure" I hear about "guilty pleasure" all the time but I'd never heard of "angry pleasure." (It seems like an angrier way to say "schadenfreude"). Has this phrase been lost because we'd rather refer to ourselves as "guilty" than "angry"?
- Certainly a great phrase! Although I take 'angry pleasure' to mean something different to 'guilty pleasure' - guilty pleasure is drinking wine, say, when you know you shouldn't; angry pleasure, to me, is pretending you are outwardly pleased with a situation when you are inwardly angry about it.

- You could build an atrium around the tree!
- I want to ask every one in the Labour Party a question: When stopping immigration doesn't appease the far right, what's next? Rounding up and deporting immigrants already living here? Then what? Deporting their children? Where does this end? How can you put your name to it?
- I have voted Labour many times, Lib Dems/Liberal too, but I'll never vote Labour again, not even to keep another party out. I'll stick with the party I'm a member of, through thick and thin, LibDems. To answer your question, McSweeny needs investigating and removing and a 180° turn taken in policy.
- Keir Starmer doubles down on 'island of strangers' www.mirror.co.uk/news/politic...
- Starmer is doubling down on Tory dogma, xenophobia, persecution, victimisation, anti-Labour rhetoric, division, lies, deception, hate, dog whistling and failure.
- On the bright side, "Squalid Experiment" and "Incalculable Damage" are both great names for bands
- Keir Starmer will be soon...
- What does that say about British history?! Think about it... It's hardly rocket science to see how the British establishment operates, If all else fails, Blame immigration as the source root of all evil. That'll get the gammons back on board.🙄🙄🙄
