- Yeah, it is a shameful and idiotic speech and I do not agree with it but you really do need to read Powell’s Rivers of Blood speech because nobody - and I mean *nobody*, not even populist demagogues like Farage - in mainstream British politics at present is using language even remotely close to it.
- I’ve seen some making direct comparisons to Rivers of Blood, which is, well, OTT takes from people who’ve either never read Powell’s speech or are forgetting the blatant race-baiting from those like Bobby Jenrick, Braverman, Farage etc. It was a terrible, shameful and idiotic speech, but come on.
