- also I was there on a date and I finally found a use for all the time I spent during my PhD reading Donna Haraway 👌
- went to see Staying with the Trouble at the IMMA (absolutely A+ exhibition) and overheard a grandma with her two grandkids complaining to a gallery employee that there should have been a sign posted to warn visitors about some of the artwork because "it was really horrifying and unsuitable for kids"
- women love hearing about the cyborg manifesto

- I spent the whole visit trying to figure out what piece specifically had got her so worked up and I'm still not sure, but I think Venus Patel's 'Daisy: Prophet of the Apocalypse' was a likely contender
- This is next Monday!!

- trans people sadly aren't immune from being shockingly low-information citizens lol
- I have met these people before and they are literally the most cursed human beings on the planet

- it's really disappointing to see after how positive my experience with the EDI team was when they were drafting their guidance for trans staff back in 2023-24. love and solidarity with all of you over there <3
- how *dare* you talk about upholding the law with 'support and compassion', my trans former colleagues and students deserve so much more than this cowardice.

- full text of the study is available here: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... trans people are beaten and raped by their partners at more than *twice* the rate of cis people, but in many jurisdictions cannot even access available (insufficient, poorly-funded) support for IPV survivors
- almost every single trans woman I know has been in this kind of abusive relationship - with cis men, trans men, cis women - and without fail, each one of them says that she stayed with her abuser long after she recognised what was happening because she felt that this was the best she could expect.
