- The reason why a lot of these contracts deputizing police officers to conduct immigration enforcement were largely phased out in 2012 was due to a barrage of civil rights lawsuits that included U.S. citizens being detained by ICE — similar to what just happened in Florida.

- This poorly thought out bill, which attacked Florida’s immigrant workforce amid worker shortages and would have created a burden for small businesses already struggling to get by, is now dead 🔪✌️
- The 5th and 14th Amendments guarantee due process and equal protection under the law, including the right to a fair hearing if detained. The 4th Amendment protects individuals from unreasonable searches and seizures. These rights extend to undocumented immigrants.

- HB 1205, restricting the ability of citizens to place an amendment initiative on the ballot was approved in the Florida Legislature. Was a priority of DeSantis, who misused public funds to combat ballot initiatives last year.

- A federal judge is considering finding the Florida Attorney General in contempt of court because he refuses to abide by a federal court order blocking enforcement of an anti-immigrant law. His refusal to comply led to a U.S. born citizen being unlawfully detained last week.
