I have to admit I hadn't heard for this process till now but it is a lovely bit of direct democracy. Almost akin to a referendum. Certainly a big step up from the UK Parliament's petitions, which only get you a debate at best.

The initiative is now over 1 million signatures and has quorum in eight countries (it needs at least seven to be valid). This means the Commission will have to initiate a legislative proposal on the matter. 🥳🎉
