I'm gen X. I was recently reminded by my stepsister of the time my mother and stepfather left the house on a Saturday morning, with her in charge. She dipped out to drive a mile to get cigarettes and that 13 minute window I, 11 or 12, woke up, panicked, and called the police bc I was home alone.
